In his early years, he was frequently bullied for his twin tails. His life took a positive turn when he met Sonic, forming an unbreakable bond with him. This relationship has made him more confident, growing into a more outgoing, brave, independent individual who strives to become a hero in his own right. Miles Prower was born on West Side Island[4] with a genetic abnormality that gave him a pair of tails. This trait earned him the nickname "Tails" and made him a frequent target of bullying.[22] Tails' life took a positive turn when he met Sonic the Hedgehog, who had set up camp on West Side Island while adventuring. He idolized Sonic for his positive attitude, and followed him around the island when the hedgehog resolved to thwart Doctor Eggman's plan to gather the seven Chaos Emeralds. He proved a valuable partner, helping Sonic reach Eggman's Death Egg and defeat the doctor there.[23] Tails and Sonic subsequently ventured through Angel Island, where the Death Egg had crash-landed, to destroy the space station. Although the heroes were repeatedly sabotaged by Knuckles the Echidna, who was misled by Eggman into thinking they were evil, they eventually befriended him and destroyed the Death Egg for good.[24][25] Apart from West Side Island, Tails has also been known to take a vacation on Cocoa Island, where he once stopped the Battle Kukku Empire from gathering the Chaos Emeralds there.[26] Tails can be described as a gentle, sweet, kind and loyal fox with a good and positive attitude.[45][46][47][48][49] While he started out as timid and quiet due to being the victim of bullying, meeting Sonic caused him to open up and become more outgoing over time,[48] having strived to be more like his idol, giving him a progressively brighter, more positive and energetic personality.[50] Tails is not one to grasp the spotlight for himself. Instead, he is always ready and willing to help others without asking for anything in return. Unlike Sonic, who is constantly hyperactive, Tails is somewhat calmer and more controlled. He has a passion for mechanics, and he finds himself most at home in his workshop working on his next creation.[51] Despite his great skills, he is very humble about his abilities and has not realized how useful his scientific skills are yet.[52][53] Because of this, he sometimes underestimates how much his inventions have helped his friends, and as such, he has yet to discover the true potential of what he can accomplish.[53][54] Due to having hung out with Sonic for so long, the fox has become somewhat smug like his best friend over time;[43] by the time of the Lost Hex incident, he had become more confident and outspoken about his intelligence, engaging in more friendly banter with Sonic and mentioning his previous accomplishments more frequently. In contrast, he has been known to insult Dr. Eggman and his creations. Despite his development, Tails can still be timid and withdrawn at times[49][55] and can sometimes sink into self-doubt and insecurity, especially when his creations are insulted or when he feels left aside in favor of others. The status quo of his relationship with Sonic, created from the hedgehog's authority over him, initially placed a mental stranglehold on Tails that made him dependent on Sonic. As such, he often lacked initiative and confidence when alone. However, a turning point for Tails came during the Chaos incident; when Station Square was in danger of being destroyed, and with Sonic nowhere to be found, Tails realized that he could not depend on Sonic forever and had to try on his own. After saving Station Square, Tails realized he could be independent and support himself without Sonic, and all he needed was determination and faith. Since then, Tails has become more independent, self-confident, motivated and brave, rising up to be a real hero when needed. 3. He is entirely devoted to his duty, spending most of his time on Angel Island protecting the Master Emerald,[14] and rarely cares about anything that is of no importance. When his friends and others are in need of his help, however, Knuckles can always be relied on, being willing to leave his home very often.[14] Knuckles is independent, wild,[28][29][30] hot-blooded,[31] tough,[28][29][30] and a loner by nature. If Sonic embodies the wind that keeps blowing forward, then the echidna personifies the immobility of a mountain.[1][25] Due to having lived in seclusion for most of his life, Knuckles is a rather antisocial and reclusive individual. As such, he cares very little about what others think, which makes him bluntly honest, straightforward, and somewhat egotistical.[28] Knuckles is fiercely loyal to Angel Island and does whatever is in his power to protect it. He prefers to stay close to the Master Emerald's shrine to keep a watchful eye over everything at his home. Despite this devotion, the echidna is willing to leave his duty whenever his help is needed.[14] Though he has found other lifestyles appealing, and may even dream of a free one like Sonic's own,[28] he will never trade away his duties as he is far too devoted to his role as guardian, looking very concerned whenever he leaves the Master Emerald behind and spending too much time protecting the giant gem alone.[32] When not performing his duties, Knuckles prefers spending his time practicing his fighting skills, going treasure hunting, or hanging out with his friends. Knuckles is usually solemn, stoic, and collected, and usually likes to be by himself. As stubborn as he is tough,[30] he is as well headstrong and inflexible,[28] preferring to do things his way, which causes him to clash with others. Regardless, he is very strong-willed, seldom wavering in his determination, and will not give up on his goals once he has set them. While he is cool and determined in battle, the echidna has an extremely short and wild temper and is hard to reason with when he is angry,[33] which has more than once gotten him into trouble. 4. Nevertheless, she has a pure heart and will not let anything stop her. Not much is known about Amy's early life, except that she had always loved fortunes and other mystical things, and that she practiced some of it using her own tarot cards. Using her cards, in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, Amy predicted that she would have a "destined" encounter with Sonic the Hedgehog on the small satellite known as Little Planet.[6] Amy traveled to the Little Planet and saw Sonic there, fulfilling her prediction. She instantly fell in love with him and hugged him, but Sonic didn't respond to her advances.[26] At Collision Chaos however, Amy was kidnapped by Metal Sonic, Dr. Eggman's latest creation. Fortunately, after Amy got tied up in Stardust Speedway, she was saved by Sonic after he defeated Metal Sonic. After Sonic then defeated Eggman and the doctor's base began to fall apart around them, Amy was safely carried back to Earth by Sonic, where she only caught a glimpse of him running away and setting Little Planet free. Amy would join Sonic in his friends in various competitions across earth. In Sonic R, Amy saw from advertisement that the World Grand Prix, a racing competition to determine the fastest in the world was about to take place. Learning that Sonic would participate, Amy signed up in hopes of meeting Sonic.[27] Amy joined Sonic and Tails on an adventure to defeat Doctor Eggman and Fang the Hunter on the Northstar Islands. Amy ends up befriending and helping Trip the Sungazer when the latter is trapped in Lagoon City Zone, resulting in Trip gaining confidence and disobeying Fang later on. Along with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Trip, Amy manages to save the day. 5. He is the final result of Project Shadow, a government experiment that was only completed by infusing Shadow with the DNA of the alien Black Doom. After his birth, Shadow befriended Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. However, the Guardian Units of Nations (G.U.N.) deemed the project a threat and raided the ARK, resulting in the captures of Shadow and Gerald, and the death of Maria. Driven to madness, Gerald altered Shadow's memories to one day seek revenge. Shadow remained in stasis for decades until he was freed by Gerald's grandson, Dr. Eggman. Fueled by vengeance, Shadow fought Sonic and friends until his true memories of Maria returned, inspiring him to save the world from Gerald's doomsday plot. However, Shadow fell to Earth and lost his memories in the process. Shadow would only learn the truth of his existence once he faced the Black Arms invasion of Earth. He has fought for Maria's wish of peace ever since, acting as a dark hero who protects the Earth and its inhabitants. 6. Together, they confront the evil Dr. Eggman's plans to destroy beautiful nature.
