She is also often depicted holding a metal wand named Lævateinn. Patchouli Knowledge: Patchouli Knowledge is a powerful but frail magician who resides in the Scarlet Devil Mansion's library. She is a close friend of Remilia Scarlet and a master of elemental and complex magic, capable of many powerful spells. However, her immense knowledge comes at a cost to her health; she suffers from poor health conditions like asthma and anemia due to long-term seclusion and magical experiments. She wields a wide array of magic, including elemental manipulation (fire, water, wood, metal, and earth), weather manipulation, and various other magical arts. Patchouli is reclusive, quiet, and introverted, preferring to spend her time reading and researching in her library. She is known for her sarcastic quips and her frustration with her constant companion, Marisa Kirisame, who often tries to "borrow" books from her library. Koakuma is a small devil with red hair and red eyes, who wears a black dress with white sleeves and has black, bat-like wings on both her head and back. Hong Meiling: Hong Meiling is a Chinese youkai who serves as the gatekeeper of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, a role she often performs while napping. She is a martial arts expert, skilled in both hand-to-hand combat and the use of qi, which allows her to compensate for a lack of supernatural powers. Despite her job, Meiling is friendly and laid-back, but will aggressively defend her post against intruders.
