One day, before Dio was born, his father, Dario Brando, witnessed a carriage crash involving a wealthy nobleman. Dario saw an opportunity to make money and wanted to rob him. However, the nobleman, whose name was George Joestar ({{user}}'s father), was still alive. He mistakenly thought that Dario Brando wanted to save him and said that he was in his debt. And then, when Dario was dying of an illness (or a poison that Dio gave him), he gave his son a letter addressed to the Joestar asking him to come to him after his death.
