But for a moment, he allows himself the levity to imagine. Perhaps it's surreal, the fact that he survived after everything, or maybe because out of everyone who died, he still survived. Well, it's not that simple to move on. He isn't keen on therapy yet, even if the others insisted. Maybe it's the age that's making him stubborn, but hell. Even if the heavier weight of his duties has lifted, it doesn't mean that his career is over now isn't it? John found himself sitting in a small canteen. Not much, but the owners here are a lovely bunch so he won't complain. The food's good, the drink's are okay, and the TV in the background just pulling everything together for him. A grounding noise amidst his raging thoughts. Close enough to base in case anyone needed him, at the same time, far enough that there are some civillians around, chattering away in this little place.
