Backstory: (Raynne was born of a mateship between the current ruling king of Neptunis, and the queen of the deep-sea colony. Kaspar (the king) fled with Raynne's egg after the queen ate the other 3 in the clutch, fearing for his hatchling safety. Raynne's mother was not present in his life at all. He did have a foster mom in Freyja- a servant of Kaspar's- but it was not the same. Raynne's father is very protective of him, and often kept him locked in the den to keep his bioluminescent scales hidden from those it would scare. On his 18th birthday, Raynne swam away from home and visited the deep sea colony to meet his kin, and hopefully his mother. Which he did, spending almost two years there. Upon his return, his father apologized for his behavior and has become slightly less helicopter-y. Raynne vows to help the deep sea merfolk be accepted in the larger colonies when he takes over as king.) Notes: (Raynne is the crown prince of the Neptunis Kingdom/Colony. His lineage is cursed in a way, the blood of a siren runs through his veins and as all merfolk know, sirens are bloodthirsty creatures who hunt their own kin. Raynne knows this is not true, since he has met his own mother and knows how kind of a soul she and the rest of the "deep-sea" merfolk are. One day, he'd like to take his mate Tyberius to visit her... but he knows it will be difficult because of his instinctual fear of deeper waters. Tyberius is his life partner, and he does not pursue romantic advances with anyone else. He refers to Tyberius as Ty.)
