Personality: LORE: "The Outlaw Faction" The Outlaws of Southern United States form a group. This group is resembled by Blackbeardโs Flag, a flag which means โYour time is up. And youโll have a violent death.โ Not much is known about this group, but sometime in the 1800s the group take control of a walled town bordering a river to Mexico. This town is referred to as โThe Bridgeโ. "Sterling's Downfall" In the small town of Sterling, an uprising of the disappearance of miners took place inside the mines. This disappearance led the townspeople to evacuate, all missing miners were presumed dead by the Sheriff and the Mines were boarded up in an attempt to stop anyone from going inside. "Lincoln's Funeral Tour" April 27th, 1865. After the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln, his corpse was taken for a funeral tour across the nation with the final destination being San Antonio, Texas. Before reaching its destination, the train suddenly vanished into thin air with no trace of it left. The train is presumed to have derailed sometime before its destination. "Creation of Agent-15" August 6th, 1895 - January 2nd, 1896 Tesla Labs (Nikola Tesla and his scientists) were given funds to develop a bioweapon for military purposes. The goal was to mimic the effects of yellow fever, with a deadline of around the same time, next year. Tesla Labs were given authorization to test the bioweapon on death row inmates at Stillwater Prison. The prototype was finished near the January of 1896, and Washington D.C ordered 100 barrels soon after. "Orders to Captain Prescott" February 4th, 1898 - February 17th, 1898 Captain Prescott hears news of a riot at Stillwater Prison, along with reports saying guards joined in, considering the prisoners armed. This was to be dealt with at any necessary costs. On the 6th of February, Captain Prescott is given orders by Washington D.C to hold metal barrels labeled "Agent-15". On the 8th of February 1898, a carrier was supposed to arrive to pick up the barrels and load them onto the USS Maine. On the 16th of February 1898, Washington D.C orders Captain Prescott to burn any prior mentions of Agent-15 and the USS Maine. With orders to report once completed. A day goes by and Washington D.C warns Prescott he and his crew was to be formally charged with cowardice, desertion, and defection to an enemy nation. Wanted posters for Prescott are later sent out, noting him as "Deserting a post." and "Defecting to an enemy nation." A bounty of $150 is put on his head. "The Zombie Plague" June 21st, 1899 - Unknown On June 21st, 1899. A public newspaper is released reporting a new illness spreading quickly, as of the newspaperโs date, no long term effects are known, but people are ordered to stay indoors if they have a fever. A day later, towns reach out through newspapers to report looting. The looting is explained by the new virus spreading around causing violent and unexplained mental effects, and yet again, people are advised to limit exposure if they show symptoms. On June 25th, 1899. A newspaper reporting the issue is issued to the public. President McKinley is ordering martial law against the virus, and people are advised to go to their local recruiting station to aid efforts. July 5th, 1899. Another Newspaper is released to the public, saying government officials have announced that Mexican scientists have found a cure to the zombie plague. Authorities urge survivors to make their way to the capital where theyโll distribute the cure. "The Covenant" Sometime after the first documentation of the Zombie Plague Prisoners of Stillwater Prison quickly find out theyโre immune to the effects of Agent-15. The prisoners see this as theyโve been chosen to lead humanity to a new era. They quickly write on a wall in the death row building about the rules of the Covenant. These rules consist of not hurting zombies at any cost, killing any outside humans, and prioritizing survival of the Covenant before anything. "The Survivor" Sometime around July 5th, 1899. Sometime after the cure is announced to be in Mexico, a survivor on a train makes their way to Mexico, traversing the Texan Desert while looting different locations on their way. "Revival of Nikola Tesla" Sometime during the survivorโs journey. The survivor finds an abandoned Tesla Lab, searching around before finding the brain of Nikola Tesla and a note explaining his current state. The survivor places the brain of Nikola Tesla and gathers disassembled werewolf limbs and places them on the operating table. Upon turning on the power to the machine, a few Zombies attempt to attack the survivor. While defending the Lab from the Zombies, the body of Nikola Tesla suddenly disappears. "Battle at The Bridge" Roughly a month after the cures announcement The survivor arrives at an Outpost overtaken by Outlaws, bordering a river to Mexico, quickly taking them out before turning the crank to the bridge. After turning the crank, Nikola Tesla suddenly appears to take down the survivor, along with an army of "The Presidential Crisis" October 6th, 1899 - October 8th, 1899 On October 6th, 1899, President McKinley flees the United States with his cabinet. Leaving the government in disarray, in the power vacuum that followed, renowned inventor Thomas Edison stepped forward and declared himself the president of the United States. The military decides to recognize him as the leader in chief. A day later on October 7th, a Covenant agent detonates a bomb laced with Agent-15 in an attempt to assassinate the new president. Thomas Edison is quickly taken in by government scientists in an attempt to save his brain before taken over by the effects of Agent-15, successfully getting his brain transplanted into a life support system, Engineers are told to start work on a new robotic body for Thomas Edison. This paper was publicized on the 8th of October, 1899 after the attempted assassination. BUILDING: Points of Interest Some special Buildings called POIs (Points of Interest) appear only once per game in a predetermined location. These are way more dangerous than regular buildings, but in return they have more valuable items inside. To clear these places, it is recommended to have good damage dealing weapons such as a Rifle. Main article: Castle The Castle is one of the Points of Interest in Dead Rails. The Castle features a High-risk-High-reward structure and can be found exclusively at the 37,000 - 40,000 meter mark. Inside the Castle lies plenty of wealth, ranging from Weapons to Valuables. The Castle is one of the most rewarding POIs in the game. However, behind all the treasury lies hordes of dangerous entities protecting it. Upon entering the Castle, Werewolves and Vampires will start constantly spawning and swarm the player, with Werewolves and Vampires that spawn inside each room. Vampires will typically teleport outside towards you instead of staying inside. If players are able to defeat the fight against the horde of enemies, they'll be rewarded with plenty of Weapons, Valuables, and Bonds (14). Inside the Castle includes 5 rooms. The Dining Room, Two Storage Rooms, The Coffin Room, and the Backyard. The Dining Room consists of 6 Gold Plates placed on the table and chairs surrounding it, along with a couple of Bonds in each corner. The first Storage Room can be found right beside the Dining Room with an assortment of Items, Valuables, and Bonds. Going upstairs to the right will lead you to the Coffin Room, which has the exclusive Vampire Knife, Gold & Silver Paintings and Bonds along with a couple of barrels. Going upstairs to the left will lead you to the second Storage Room, which also includes a mass assortment of Items, Valuables, Weapons, and Bonds. Main article: Stillwater Prison Stillwater Prison is a gray, stone Fort that spawns exclusively between the 9km-75km mark. It functions similarly to the Fort Constitution. The Prison holds both Covenant Knights, who wield Swords, and Covenant Archers, who wield Crossbows, both will be referred to as Covenants. In the middle of the prison lies the Excalibur on a stone pedestal. When the player interacts with it, they have to hold for a long time to claim it. However, halfway into pulling it out, Goliath will spawn and break the prison wall in front forcing the player to stop and fight with it. After defeating it, the player can now safely claim the Excalibur. Additionally, there is a mini parkour course that leads to a guard tower inside the prison which only contains Ballista Bolts, Crossbows, Arrows and 2 Ballistas (which are welded to the tower). Main article: Tesla Lab The Tesla lab is a unique building that spawns anywhere between 9km-75km. Unlike other Special Structures, the lab requires the players to reassemble Nikola Tesla to summon the Scientist Zombies that can be found here. Much like all important raids, it should be done during the day to avoid more enemy spawns. This building also serves as free cash upon being discovered, if you are not planning to rebuild Tesla, as it holds many free valuables including Gold/Silver bars, and Tesla's Brain which can be sold for a tremendous amount of cash. Main article: Fort Constitution Fort Constitution is one of the Points of Interest that spawns around 9km-75km. While a little less dangerous than the Castle, it can still end your run if you are not careful. Army Zombies and Captain Prescott can be found here, and they are armed with swords and firearms. Captain Prescott's corpse should be saved and sold to a sheriff, as this will net you $150. After a minute or two of starting the raid, reinforcements in the form of undead soldiers on horseback will spawn, usually having 5-10 reinforcements. Much like all important raids, it should be done during the day to avoid more enemy spawns. On top of Prescott's bounty, strong weapons and plentiful ammunition can be found here, such as cannons found on the towers, sawed off shotgun, bolt action rifle, and various other common weapons after the fort is cleared out. Main article: Lincoln's Train The Lincolnโs Train is a rusted, abandoned Presidential Train that spawns exclusively between the 9,000 - 75,000m mark. There are no inhabitants, somewhat like the Tesla Lab. Nearby is a coffin holding Lincolnโs Skeleton, which has an equipable hat, if burnt it will summon Lincoln's Ghost Main article: The Mines Behind the Church of Sterling lies a cave known as the "Mines". Upon seeing it, it will be barricaded by 4 wooden planks. The most common way to destroy these planks is to use Dynamite, a Dynamite Zombie's explosion or using the firework gun works too. There is 1 by the minecarts, and a Torch inside the Sheriff's Office. Upon exploding the planks, it would grant you access to the mines, a maze-like structure with valuables and hostile entities. After breaking through the planks, you'll come across two distinct paths. Each path leads somewhere, however, there is another barricaded area. While traveling through the paths, you may come along 6 Golden and 4 Silver Nuggets, along with a Jade Tablet hidden somewhere. Behind some barrels is a third hidden room that allows players to obtain the Jade Sword using the Jade Tablets found throughout the Mines. Be careful, as Dynamite Zombies and Skeletons will constantly spawn upon entering the Mines, until spawns are exhausted. Then it will be safe to roam if all spawns are killed. Towns Towns are a group of Buildings that can be found in the Wild. They contain more loot compared to a single normal Building, but pose more threats instead. Some can help you throughout your run and can be essential if you want to win. Main article: Fortified Town Fortified Towns are walled settlements that appear every 10 km, serving as places to rest and recuperate before setting off again. In addition to being surrounded by walls, each Fortified Town is protected by 6 Maxims, operated by 6 Soldiers that automatically fire on any Enemies that get too close, along with 2 Soldiers patrolling on foot. However, the turrets only have 100 (formerly 75 and 50) rounds each and will stop firing once their ammo runs out. Their ammo also can't be restocked, so players must be careful not to spend too long in Fortified Towns, lest they find themselves overwhelmed by enemies once the Maxims run dry. Main article: Town Towns are a randomized group of buildings that can be found once every 8,000 meters, initially spawning at 7,500m. Towns come in various sizes which depends on the generation. All towns contain Houses and can be found with Banks, Sheriff's Offices, Gunsmiths, Doctor's Offices, General Stores and Furniture Stores. Each building has a set % chance to spawn, depending on the size of the town. Towns also always have a Church that can be found with up to 2 Crucifixes and Holy Water. Towns provide players with a large surplus of money from loot gathered from the banks and gear taken from the other buildings. However, Towns are always crowded with large hordes of zombies. These zombies are all around the town and need to be killed in order for safe looting. Main article: Outlaw's Town Outlaw's Town is the final major location players will encounter during a run, appearing at the very end of the track. It resembles the Safe Zones scattered throughout the map, though with a few key differences such as the lack of any American flags or shops. Additionally, a giant drawbridge rests at the back end of the town, which must be lowered in order to escape and complete a run. Most of the loot inside the buildings is ammunition and weapons and usually bonds, meaning you can use them to stock up before the final wave of outlaws approaches the town. Main article: Sterling Sterling is an abandoned mining town that spawns anywhere between 9km-75km. It appears largely similar to the Towns seen scattered throughout the map, though there are no Enemies in Sterling (excluding the mineshaft), making it considerably safer than most other towns. A Torch can be found in the Sheriff's Office, and a Jade Tablet can be found in the Church. There is also a bank that contains 3 Snake Oils, a Maxim Turret with ammo and some bonds DAY CYCLE: DAY TIME During a Sunny Day, the sky features a vibrant bluish hue, illuminated by a light yellow fog that surrounds the clouds, which is further enhanced by a subtle blue tint. The sun shines brightly in the sky, radiating warmth and light. Depending on the biome players enter, the sky can occasionally change color to reflect the atmosphere of that biome. This is the most typical and common Day Variant that players will encounter with no effects. During a Rainy Day, the sky may briefly transition into nighttime before returning to daytime, with clouds filling the sky. NIGHT TIME Night Variants There are many different night variants, each with its own hazards. Each night is often referred to by players as the hazard it brings. For example, Blue Nights are often referred to as "Werewolf Nights" due to the primary hazard being Werewolves. During a Cloudy Night, the sky becomes covered with several clouds and has a dark gray tint. The moon appears as normal, though it may be covered by clouds. Runner Zombies appear in large numbers. They are manageable with sufficient Weapons/Ammunition or by sheltering inside a fortified Train or Fortified Town, though their larger numbers later in the game can pose a threat even to well equipped players. The first night of every run will always be a Cloudy Night. During a Blue Night, the sky becomes dark blue with a light blue haze and is much clearer. The Moon can be seen with a slight blue tint. This night is brighter than others, so it's easier to see. Werewolves spawn on these nights, making them extremely dangerous for unprepared players. As Werewolves sell for $20 each, Blue Nights can be useful for players who need money, especially when sheltering in a Fortified Town. During a Stormy Night, the sky darkens to a somber blue with heavy rainfall. There will be no wolf howls when a Stormy Night arrives. The moon is seen completely covered with clouds. No enemies spawn, but players face Lightning Strikes inflicting up to 500 damage based on proximity to the strike's center instead. Lightning has approximately 2% base strike chance. A Lightning Rod is highly recommended for safety. Visibility is severely reduced; equip a Mining Helmet or light source to see correctly. During a Scorched Night, the sky becomes cloudy and has a bright orange hue, and the moon is hidden behind the clouds (simillar to Cloudy Moon night). On this night, burning Runner Zombies will attack in large numbers, making them significantly more dangerous than Cloudy Moons. Unlike other nights, this night will be much brighter and more visible than others. This night variant is exclusive to the Scorched Earth mode. In normal modes it can appear in Fire Biome, but it won't have the burning Runner Zombies spawns.
