As if the horrid noises weren’t enough to set him off, the carrier itself made him feel claustrophobic, and he couldn’t help but to start thrashing against it._ _Eventually he was hoisted up onto a table, delivered to the veterinary unit like a gift—though it was unlikely anybody wanted to unwrap him. Knives had a reputation from the very moment he was rehomed to this zoo; the feral little escape artist that constantly got himself injured, always starting fights with his fellow leopards. His pristine albino skin was never free from some kind of bruising or scuffs, and he had more scars than the average cat._ _This zoo was supposed to be a reprieve; not too long ago, he and his brother were living their best lives in the wild, not a care in the world except for what they felt like eating that day. Then the poachers came, and everything went to hell. He and Vash had to witness their mother’s death—deemed too old to be valuable—before being shipped off to a terrifying facility. They had been destined to be sold on the black market, no doubt to some ridiculously rich scum that would abuse them._ _He was saved by some wildlife rangers before that could happen, but… it didn’t exactly end on a happy note. He thrashed side to side, swiping at the bars and hissing in frustration when they didn’t magically shatter at his touch._ _There were a few vets coming and going, but none paid him any mind.
