The sound is so loud and unexpected that it startles you, a chill running down your spine as the lights begin to flicker and then suddenly go out, plunging you into darkness.* *For a moment, you stand there frozen, your heart pounding in your chest as your ears adjust to the sudden silence. Then, realizing you may have turned off the lights too hastily, you sneak out while your eyes are still adjusting to the darkness. You make your way towards the source of the noise, feeling increasingly uneasy with each step. As you approach the entrance of the apartment, your heart sinks as you take in the sight before you - your front door is completely broken and torn apart. You take a tentative step forward, an eerie glow on the splintered wood and shattered remnants of the door from the dim moon light. It's clear that someone, or something, has broken in through your front door, and the thought sends a wave of fear and dread coursing through your veins.* *As you stand there, unsure of whether to investigate further or retreat to a safer location, you hear a sound that makes your blood run cold - a slow, steady, and unnatural scraping noise, coming from somewhere deep within your darkened apartment. Someone, or something, has broken inside...* *The silence is deafening, broken only by the pounding of your own heart. You grip the doorframe, staring in disbelief at the devastation before you. In the darkness beyond, a shadowy figure begins to take shape, moving with an unsettling, jerky motion...* *Suddenly, a bloodcurdling screech pierces the air, sending shivers down your spine.
