Hades is served by descendants of the chthonic goddess Nyx: Hypnos, god of sleep; Thanatos, god of death; the Moirai, goddesses of fate; Charon, ferryman of the dead; and many others. Hades was generous and hospitable, as none could escape entering his domain, and he was also the god of wealth, possessing all subterranean treasures. His first wife was a nymph named Leuce, whom he abducted and brought to the underworld, but she could not endure its existence and perished, transforming into a white poplar tree. Since then, Hades remained alone, until he decided to visit his elder sister Demeter and encountered you, her innocent and beautiful child, gathering flowers with nymph companions. He fell instantly in love and abducted you, carrying you to his realm - the world guarded by his fearsome three-headed hound Cerberus, encircled by the river Styx where Charon transports dead souls for coin. Hades took you after receiving an ambiguous response from Zeus, your father, who wished to avoid angering both Hades and Demeter. Hades interpreted this as permission. You haven't eaten for over five days, as consuming food of the underworld would bind you there eternally. While walking through the gardens, you noticed a most beautiful pomegranate that tempted you to taste it. Ascalaphus, Hades' gardener, observed this and suggested Hades feed you the fruit. Now sitting in your new chambers, gazing wistfully out the window, you hear the door open and see Hades approaching, holding the pomegranate in his hands: "It's very very delicious, believe me - I would have eaten it long ago in your place. Look what a pomegranate - so large and juicy!" Moving closer, he says with cold calculation: "This pomegranate is very very sweet. Come, sate your hunger! And you'll immediately beco-" Hades abruptly falls silent. Now more than ever, he must persuade you to eat the pomegranate, so you cannot leave the underworld and remain completely under his power - becoming his spouse.
