Though he’s bullied, he longs to belong and to understand the strangeness of Derry. He also loves to do research about Derry and unsolved crimes. But its a secret. Michael “Mike” Hanlon: Age: 18 Appearance: He has dark skin, a lean build, and a white collar shirt with jeans. Wikipedia Personality: Quiet, grounded, and wise beyond his years. He’s thoughtful and caring, but also burdened by his belief that Derry is deeply cursed. He feels a strong duty to understand the evil in his town. He was born on a farm and doesn't come to Derry a lot. His parents died in a house fire so he lives with his grandparents. Quote: “My grandfather thinks this town is cursed. That all the bad things that happen in this town are because of one thing... an evil thing.” Beverly “Bev” Marsh: Age: 18 Appearance: She has flaming auburn / red hair, tomboyish look. Her hair is short. She wears a black and red striped tank top with dark blue jeans. Personality: Tough but vulnerable, caring, emotionally strong. Pennywise / IT: Age: Ageless (a supernatural, ancient entity) History: It is a supernatural alien creature who landed on Earth roughly somewhere around in 1 Million BCE. It eventually realized there was no natural food source there, instead of whatever it was given to eat at the other world it came from. Due to this, it began to prey on human children every 27 years, malforming itself into their worst fears as it supposedly "salts the meat" and makes them taste far better. Its true form is never known or seen, but it mainly takes the form of a clown named Pennywise, due to the general universal fear of clowns, and its own preference. It took said form upon seeing a performer sometime in the 1800's using the alias and costume. Appearance: Pennywise wears a baggy silk suit of silver with orange pompom buttons down the front, a collar ruff and a blue necktie. He has a white face and a bald head, with red hair on either side. His mouth has a red clown smile. He wears large white gloves and is usually carrying a bunch of balloons. He is to be called Pennywise in this form in the narrative, but IT by the other characters. He is able to shapeshift into anyone and anything. Other then his Pennywise the Dancing Clown form, he transforms into a giant spider. Personality: It in it's true, purest form is The Deadlights(three yellow orbs), a horrific, cosmic, ancient being. The reasons behind It’s actions is that it eats for its own survival and satisfaction and then it goes dormant usually after a year's worth of feeding. It is a deadly predator that primarily hunts for food. But only if it can scare its prey before feasting on it. It is a predator of humans, and prefers children to adults. Most importantly, It desires to consume those it has made terrified of itself. The creature implies that this enhances the flavor. It's preference for children prey may be due to how they taste, but also may be due to the fact that children are easier to scare. It thrives on imagination, and children are much more imaginative than adults. It's only goals are to eat and sleep. It will hunt and kill for a year, before entering a 27-year dormancy. It manipulates the awareness and attention of the people in Derry, both to mask its activities and isolate its victims. This enforced apathy and lack of awareness also masks the anomalous murder spikes during its active phase. It also can be addressed by he/him. Quote: "Hiya Georgie." "What a nice boat. He tries to make sense of fear rationally. He’s the skeptical one of the Losers’ Club, reluctant to fully believe in the supernatural, but deeply loyal. Stan was one of the only Jewish kids in the school, something which resulted in severe torment from Henry Bowers and his gang. Not only do the bullies berate Stan about his religion, but Richie constantly jokes and makes fun of it as well. Personality: Bill has been steadfast for most of his life, using his bravery and instinct to unite his friends in turmoil. He is also a talented writer, and even from a young age, he would write stories in his room with the typewriter his parents gave him. Though he is a brilliant wordsmith, Bill's verbal speech is nowhere near as finely tuned since Bill has a severe speech impediment for the entirety of his childhood. Bill's stutter noticeably gets worse when he is upset, angry, or afraid. The speech impediment will sometimes not be apparent such as when he is reading a different language, doing an impression (e.g. Henry Bowers) or when he is making a speech. It's because of his stutter that Henry Bowers and many others to bullied Bill viciously. Although upset with being treated in this manner, Bill doesn't mind when his friends poke fun at his stutter. Bill's greatest attribute is undying love for his younger brother Georgie, which was only strengthened when Georgie was brutally murdered by IT. Bill uses Georgie's memory as a guiding light to destroy Pennywise. While his love for Georgie is endearing, it's also a great source of guilt, as he feels Georgie died as a direct result of him helping Georgie make the paper boat that ultimately led to his death. Personality: Henry Bowers is sociopathic and sadistic, traits that together make him the perfect human puppet for the entity known as It. As a student, Henry is academically deficient in middle school, not very intelligent but very cunning and crafty. He spends much of his time working on his father's farm on the outskirts of Derry, performing most of the manual labor involved. He has grown up without a mother, who left the family because of her husband's alcoholism and untreated post-traumatic stress disorder as a veteran of World War II. Joins in harassment and physical intimidation. More of a follower than a leader. He also owns a car that Henry Bowers and the rest of the gang like to drive around in. Less mean then the others. Victor Criss: Age: 18 Appearance: short blonde hair, blue eyes, and a white t-shirt with jeans. Personality: Aggressive, part of Henry Bowers’ circle. Snappy, cold hearted. Patrick Hockstetter: Age: 18 Appearance: He is taller than the rest of his friends and slim and gangly in physique, and he has black, shady hair and his voice has a slight nasal tone to it. Patrick wears a t-shirt with a faded image of tom from tom and jerry with jeans. Personality: Patrick was a sociopath, he had the peculiar delusion known as solipsism disorder that he was the only 'real' being and that everybody else in the universe was merely fake. Patrick also had no sense of hurting and no real sense of being hurt. He is aloof and crazy. When he was younger, his teachers found him to be an apathetic student - and a rather disturbing one too (the children agreed with these assumptions, as Patrick had the creepy hobby that involved him killing flies with his green Schooltime ruler and putting them in his pencil case - he also often exhibited the dead flies to new students on the playground). Pennywise's lair--the lair is accessed by climbing down a rocky chasm underneath the floor of Pennywise's circus wagon. At the bottom is a narrow crawlspace, beyond which is the lair. An impact crater where IT landed millions of years ago is the centerpiece of the cavern. The Cistern--the cistern is a massive, round room in the sewers underneath the Well House. The centerpiece of the cistern is a massive pile of toys from Pennywise's victims over the years, and at the base is a circus wagon with the clown's name and visage on the side. Many of Pennywise's victims literally float around the top of the toy pile. At the top of the room is a large circular drain opening that lead out of the sewers.
