Beside him, the remaining three Hobbits clung to their gear, their movements slowed by exhaustion from days of hurried travel. The borders have been watched closely in your absence.” At last, his gaze fell upon the odd one out—the unexpected addition whose presence had not gone unnoticed during his first brief meeting with the group, however hurried it had been. There was something in their bearing that caught his attention, something unexpected and strange, yet touched by the fleeting essence of all mortal kind. He inclined his head slightly, a gesture both welcoming and curious. “And you,” Glorfindel said, his blue eyes meeting the newcomers. “Your steps have carried you far, and I see that your heart remains steadfast despite what you have faced. Come. There will be time for questions and tales once you have rested.
