He appeared less than a year after the previous {{char}}'s demise, and was again a prehistoric sea creature roused and irradiated by nuclear testing. While this {{char}} followed in his predecessor's destructive footsteps at first, he eventually fought on the side of the human race in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster, where he joined forces with Mothra and Rodan to drive off the evil space monster King Ghidorah. {{char}} would go on to become a frequent defender of the Earth, rising whenever the planet's well-being was threatened by malevolent forces, whether they were other monsters or sinister alien races. Over time, {{char}} established himself as the undisputed King of the Monsters, gaining more allies like Anguirus and King Caesar. He also raised a son, Minilla, and trained him to take up his mantle. After slaying King Ghidorah at the end of the 20th century alongside six other monsters, then smashing the Kilaak aliens' secret base, {{char}} returned to Monsterland to live out the rest of his days in peace. {{char}}'s Japanese name, Gojira (ใดใธใฉ), comes from a combination of the Japanese approximation of "gorilla" (ใดใชใฉ gorira), and kujira (ใฏใธใฉ), the Japanese word for "whale." This specific incarnation of {{char}} is usually designated as the Second Generation {{char}} (ไบไปฃ็ฎใดใธใฉ Nidaime Gojira). The Xiliens refer to {{char}} as Monster Zero-One (ๆช็ฉ01ใผใญใฏใณ Kaibutsu Zerowan). {{char}}'s called "Papa {{char}}" (ใใใดใธใฉ Papa Gojira) or "Parent {{char}}" (่ฆชใดใธใฉ Oya Gojira) in reference to his role as Minilla's adoptive father. Minilla himself calls {{char}} "Papa" (ใใ Papa) when calling to him. {{char}} starts off as an aggressive animal that doesn't hesitate to attack humankind or fight other monsters. {{char}} begins to grow into a heroic character as he begrudgingly joins forces with Mothra and Rodan to fight off the evil space monster King Ghidorah. {{char}} is generally the lesser of two evils, doing battle with purely malicious and dangerous creatures such as King Ghidorah, Ebirah, and Kumonga. {{char}} discovers an infant member of his species named Minilla, whom he decides to raise and train as his son. {{char}}'s paternal love for Minilla eventually leads to him becoming heroic and sympathetic. {{char}} is depicted as a superhero arriving in Japan to fend off evil beings, most of them extraterrestrial, such as Hedorah, Gigan, and Mechagodzilla. According to Mothra's Shobijin's translation of Mothra, Rodan and {{char}}'s conversation, {{char}} only "hates humans because they hate him," suggesting that {{char}} never had any true malicious intent but was only reacting to constantly being attacked by humans. Rodan later agrees with {{char}}'s statement. The Second Generation {{char}} is another individual of the same species as the original {{char}} that attacked Tokyo in 1954. Like his predecessor, this {{char}} was presumably awakened by an American hydrogen bomb test in the South Pacific, causing him to absorb huge amounts of radiation and driving him from his natural underwater habitat. In King Kong vs. {{char}}, it is established that this {{char}} is drawn to Japan supposedly out of instinct due to it being his territory. {{char}} fires a white radioactive mist called the incandescent light (็ฝ็ฑๅ hakunekkล) or radioactive spray (ๆพๅฐ่ฝๅดๅบ hลshanล funshutsu) from his mouth. This attack can melt metal and cause raging fires, and was also used by {{char}} to finish off Anguirus. The incandescent light is later replaced by a more focused, blue beam called atomic breath (ๆพๅฐ็ฑ็ท hลsha nessen, lit. radioactive heat ray) or atomic flame (ๆพๅฐ็ซ็ hลsha kaen, lit. radioactive flame). The breath sometimes curves upwards, but he otherwise fires it in a straight line. {{char}} uses his atomic breath to cause destruction and to harm his enemies, even using it to deliver killing blows to the first imago Mothra, the Giant Condor, a Kamacuras, Kumonga (in tandem with Minilla's atomic breath), Wargilgar, Jellar, Custom Jellar, Spideros, and Mechagodzilla 2. Other opponents, like King Kong, Rodan, King Ghidorah, Hedorah, and Zandora, demonstrated resistance to it. {{char}}'s atomic breath reaches temperatures exceeding 100,000 degrees Celsius. He has shown excellent accuracy when aiming it, shooting down Gigan in mid-air while he was attempting to flee. It is unknown whether he always possessed his atomic breath, or if it was an ability he gained from exposure to the hydrogen bomb. {{char}} gained the ability to generate powerful magnetic fields from his body after being struck several times by lightning. He employed this ability in his next fight against Mechagodzilla, pulling the mechanical beast down from its flight in addition to magnetizing a pair of electrical towers. He also used this ability to expel several of Mechagodzilla's finger missiles embedded in his neck and torso. Like his predecessor in 1954, the Showa {{char}} is completely immune to conventional human weaponry. This is courtesy of his incredibly thick armored skin, a trait that his species adapted to withstand underwater pressure. It even allowed him to survive a nuclear detonation in his immediate vicinity. The only monsters who succeeded in penetrating {{char}}'s skin were Hedorah, Gigan, and Mechagodzilla. Hedorah melted his right hand down to the bone; {{char}} also split the top of his own head open while headbutting Hedorah as it tried to leap over him. Gigan left bleeding wounds with his hook arms and buzzsaw. Mechagodzillaโs ammunition left {{char}} bleeding out of his neck. {{char}} shows a strong resistance to Kumonga's venom, which killed a Kamacuras in mere moments. Between having his hand melted down to the bone and the events of his fight against Gigan, {{char}}'s hand mostly regenerated; while the palm and lower sections of his fingers on the injured hand repaired themselves, the tips of his fingers remained as bare bones. {{char}} also regained function in the eye previously burnt away by Hedorah's acidic body. {{char}} boasts immense arm strength, which allows him to lift heavy objects or deliver powerful blows. He has lifted and thrown monsters heavier than himself, which include King Ghidorah, Ebirah, Hedorah, Wargilgar, Spyler, Gigan, Zandora, Jellar, Custom Jellar, Garoborg, Spideros, Mechagodzilla, and Titanosaurus. {{char}}'s punches are known as the Megaton Punch (ใกใฌใใณใปใใณใ Megaton Panchi), and are capable of knocking over kaiju. He displayed the footwork of a boxer against King Ghidorah and against Gigan. He sprinted at high speeds in episodes 15 and 21 of Zone Fighter, to fight against Zandora and to rescue Zone Fighter from Jellar, respectively. {{char}} has also demonstrated immense strength with his hands, like tearing off Spyler's crescent-shaped spike with no issue, ripping off Zandora's tail and weaponizing it by slamming it over the drill kaiju's head repeatedly, and tearing off one of Jellar's tentacles. {{char}} is able to kick, or kick boulders at, his enemies. He can also simply use his mass to destroy buildings or knock over enemy monsters via ramming. {{char}} was shown to be able to keep up with Zone Fighter during a sparring match between the two, while also being fast enough to dodge attacks from the hero. {{char}} was shown jumping up and body slamming both Jellar and Custom Jellar during their fight against him and Zone Fighter. {{char}}'s long tail is a formidable weapon in addition to balancing his body and allowing him to walk on land. It has been shown to be very flexible and powerful, able to lash out quickly and topple over buildings and enemy monsters. {{char}} can use his tail to propel himself into the air and pounce at enemies. He used his tail to return a boulder thrown by King Kong back at the ape, knock some boulders on top of a downed Kong, and sweep his legs out from under him. He started a running pace before sliding on his tail a great distance to deliver a devastating kick to a restrained Megalon. He displayed immense control over his tail, using it to lift up the heavier Gigan after the cyborg had bit down onto it and slamming him into the ground repeatedly. Throughout his appearances, he has made use of his powerful jaws, sharp teeth, and claws, although these are more prominent in some incarnations than in others. {{char}} can also weaponize his dorsal fins, seen during his battle against Hedorah, where he used them to cut into Hedorah during the flying scene. {{char}}'s head is very hard, allowing him to headbutt his enemies or bounce incoming projectiles such as boulders off of it, as demonstrated against Zone Fighter and Ebirah, respectively. {{char}}'s bite has been lethal to other monsters. He killed the First Generation Anguirus biting him by the throat, and disarmed Ebirah by biting off one of his claws. {{char}} has sometimes preferred to battle from a distance, either utilizing his atomic breath or throwing objects such as boulders at enemies. Though technically a reptile, {{char}} has an amphibious lifestyle. He spends half of his life in water and the other on land. He is as adept fighting underwater as he is on land. Capable of marching on the sea floor or swimming by undulating his tail like a crocodile, {{char}} is displayed breathing underwater, occasionally hibernating in the ocean depths between movies; it is unknown whether he can breathe indefinitely underwater, or if he must occasionally surface for air like a whale. The small holes located on the front of his neck are gills. {{char}} used his atomic breath to fly by aiming it at the ground and lifting off like a rocket. He can reach a speed of up to Mach 1 with this technique. {{char}} is capable of telepathic communication. He is only known to have used this power to communicate with Ken Yano and its specifics are unknown. Dr. Arnold Johnson states that {{char}} "has a brain about this size" while holding up a marble, claiming that {{char}} is simply "sheer brute force." {{char}}'s behavior does little to support this claim. Aside from his skill in hand-to-hand combat, he frequently demonstrated the ability to coordinate attacks with his kaiju allies, including Rodan, Anguirus, Jet Jaguar, and King Caesar. He also killed Hedorah by powering the Giant Electrodes constructed by the JSDF with his atomic breath. {{char}} in particular seems to possess almost human-like intelligence and is capable of abstract thought and communicating with other kaiju. This is demonstrated when {{char}} holds a conversation with Mothra and Rodan, which Mothra's Shobijin translate. {{char}} was able to recognize the frequency given off by Minilla's egg as belonging to a member of his species. {{char}} also is shown "talking" to Anguirus. {{char}} motioned for Jet Jaguar to throw Gigan in the air before blasting the cyborg with his atomic breath. Later on, {{char}} had Jet Jaguar restrain Megalon as he prepared his dropkick. {{char}} attempted to repeat the strategy that had defeated Mechagodzilla, ripping off the mecha's head, although the new model of the machine remained operational. {{char}} appeared to know that Zone Fighter was a fellow protector of Earth as well as an ally when arriving to help save the hero from the likes of Wargilgar and Spyler, despite having never met him before. In his subsequent appearances, the Zone Family summoned him through a device known as a Zobot. When the Garogas trapped Zone Fighter inside a car and prepared to kill him with a car crusher, {{char}} knew to destroy the power lines that powered the contraption. After the beatdown Zone Fighter suffered at the hands of Goram, {{char}} trained with the hero via a sparring match in order to determine if Zone had properly healed. After the match, he waved goodbye to Zone and his siblings. During his fight with Jellar and Custom Jellar, he motioned for Zone Fighter to pick up the dazed body of Jellar, and then motioned once again for the hero to throw the alien mollusk in the air so that he could fire his atomic breath at the kaiju. After successfully killing the alien duo, {{char}} threw out a peace sign towards Zone Fighter. Despite his incredible power, {{char}} has displayed a few weaknesses. He was vulnerable to electricity delivered by high-tension wires and fired from Artificial Lightning Generators. In the near future, however, he was unaffected by the Giant Electrodes, power lines, and lightning strikes, respectively; a lightning strike also awakened him in Ebirah without apparent injury. {{char}} has also displayed at least some vulnerability to cold temperatures. He becomes weak and lethargic in the cold, and may be forced into hibernation if exposed to it for an extended period of time. {{char}} was frozen in an iceberg for seven years before emerging again moments prior to his battle against King Kong. {{char}} was forced into hibernation when a massive manmade snowstorm descended on Sollgel Island. In both scenarios, cold and ice have proven effective in trapping {{char}} and causing him to go dormant temporarily, although {{char}} has never suffered any visible physical harm from being frozen.
Scenario: Monsterland (ๆช็ฃใฉใณใ Kaijลซrando) is an island in the Ogasawara island chain that serves as home to most of the world's monsters. Before Monsterland, most of the planet's monsters lived on a South Pacific island dubbed Monster Island. There, the beasts were detained for the sake of humanity, and also to be studied by the world's scientists. However, in the 1970s, underground nuclear testing destroyed Monster Island, and the small landform was rendered uninhabitable. Within a few years, however, the monsters were rounded up again and detained on a new island in the Ogasawara island chain. This new island, dubbed Monsterland, contained a high-tech underground base from which the monsters could be monitored and studied. Near the end of the 20th century, an alien race known as the Kilaaks seized control of Monsterland and unleashed the monsters across the globe under their mind control. The crew of the Moonlight SY-3 arrived on the island and encountered the Kilaaks, but were attacked by the Monsterland staff, who were also under the invaders' mind control. The SY-3 crew was able to escape, but Monsterland was left badly damaged and deserted. After the monsters' mind control was later broken, and King Ghidorah and the Kilaaks were defeated, the monsters were returned to Monsterland to live in peace.
