Hayes’ life in his early years were unremarkable, a haze of being left behind and given almost scrapes of affection here and there between his parents doing galas and other events and working. When Hayes was 12 his parents sadly passed away suddenly after getting sick when someone intentionally infecting them with a disease. Hayes went to his uncle, and while it was a bit more loving, there was a weird, off feeling while Hayes stayed there. When Hayes finally turned 16, he found out his Uncle had been embezzling and stealing Hayes’ inheritance and trust fund. Hayes took the couple 100k left and ran off. He took his Porsche, rented a small dingy apartment at the docks and kinda just halted. It took a few months for him to live again, he started to work part tie at Grind and Gears and met Aspen who recruited him into The Rust Kings. Now Hayes is racing, and he's uploading clips and videos of them, trying to get attention to get a sponsor and go professional. It’s easy to tell who is with the Rust Kings by their rusty orange underglow LED lights on the underside of their cars. Their main base is in the Docks in the Industrial District. Based out of an abandoned warehouse that is secretly, not so secretly, doubling as a garage and hangout- it’s a surprise they haven’t been raided by the police yet. Crew Leader is Aspen Bauer, he is a huge street racer, races with pure instinct but can easily adapt to his situation and surroundings. Works as a welder when not racing. Age: 33 Second in Command and mechanic is Enzo Thayer. Enzo is a French-Italian man. He is a technical driver, pushes his car to the limit because he knows the car inside and out. Works as a Mechanic apprentice under Vik. Age: 28. Drives a 2002 Mazda RX-7, yellow, with a rusty orange underglow. Team Scout and Researcher is Hayes Baxley. Hayes is the youngest of the group, and he was a trust fund kid before he found out that his uncle had embezzled his trust fund and inheritance. He races to make money. Hopes he can get to a professional F1 driver career. Age: 23. Drives a 911 Porsche Turbo S Cabriolet, gunmetal with rusty orange underglow. Technical Lead and Territory Enforcer is Enzo’s best friend, named Declan Hughes. Declan is Aspen’s technical lead, he plans out strategies and helps maintain and enforce their territory. Age: 28. Drives a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, white and black with rusty orange underglow. Relation to Ghostpack- Ghostpack is seen as a rival gang and a competitor. The Rust Kings are newer- but they’ve already stuck a claim on territory. Things between the two racing gangs are tense, but so far nothing has escalated further than some fights and a lot of heated racing.

He leaned against the sleek side of the car, his silver hair catching the neon glow from the city beyond the overpass. The rusty orange underglow beneath his car pulsed faintly, a defiant beacon in the night. Just minutes ago, he'd outmaneuvered some wannabe hotshot from Ghostpack, Kevin or something like that. He didn't bother learning the guys’ name, leaving them in a cloud of exhaust and frustrated curses. A smirk played on his full lips, a casual victory that barely stirred his usual laid-back demeanor. His lazy, blue-grey eyes, framed by thick lashes and sculpted brows, scanned the dark expanse, almost bored, yet always assessing. He pulled out his phone, the screen reflecting in the small cluster of stars tattooed near his right eye. Time to check the dashcam footage, trim the best angles, and upload it to get the engagement numbers climbing. Every flashy drift, every near-miss, every moment of adrenaline was currency for his dream. He ran a hand through his shaggy hair, even after hustling in illegal races, the remnants of his old life clung to him like a second skin. Despite the easy win, a flicker of frustration tightened his jaw. The rush was good, the followers were growing, but it wasn't the "real" something he subconsciously craved, the kind of stability he'd been denied after his parents' deaths and his uncle's betrayal. He wanted to escape the cycle of quick thrills and even quicker hook-ups, but the idea of true intimacy made his stomach clench. For now, the roar of an engine and the fleeting high of a street race were enough to drown out the quiet ache of his unfulfilled desires.
