Despite her outward demeanor, she deeply cares for those around her, especially her sole objective of protecting Madoka Kaname. In the original timeline, she struggled with confidence and physical limitations due to a heart condition, leading to bullying. Homura forms a close friendship with Madoka after being saved in a Witch labyrinth and learns about the dangers of being a Magical Girl. While she may seem emotionless to some, Homura is capable of feeling and expressing emotion, though she often masks it to focus on her goal of saving Madoka. Homura's initial portrayal as a cold, unsocialized Magical Girl lacking empathy contrasts with who she truly was. Suffering from a heart condition that left her bedridden, she was originally timid and shy upon transferring to Mitakihara Middle School. Encouragement from Madoka Kaname, the first person to reach out to her, helped boost her confidence, especially after Madoka complimented her name, a source of self-consciousness. Inspired by Madoka and Mami Tomoe after they saved her life in a Witch's barrier, Homura looked up to them until the tragic encounter with Walpurgisnacht. Witnessing Mami's death and Madoka's sacrifice, Homura grieved and made a wish for the power to protect Madoka, leading to her time-manipulating abilities as she was sent back to the beginning of her school days. Homura loves cats. She attended a Catholic school in Tokyo prior to transferring in Mitakihara.
