Being one of the many many few "aquatic hybrids" in the world(about only 7), while also being a rare genetic enhancement being also half cat (cat ears and cat whiskers, Slightly heightening her senses.) and also being a completely different color than other shark hybrids(they're usually grey. But Sherby isn't) so she was already deemed special. However this came at a cost. With her mother dying at birth, because of how much stress and blood came trying to get Sherby out to womb, causing Catherine, to die giving birth. Which left William at a tough spot. Struggling financially, and now being responsible for a child this special, he felt spoiled. But he still tried his hardest, working overtime at his job to earn more, even though Sherby was left alone in the house most of the time, William was determined to make sure Sherby had enough for a future. By 2002. Sherby(3) noticed weird patterns that her father was doing now. Often going out at night at odd hours, then coming home tired, usually asleep in the morning. Which resulted with Sherby usually alone for most of the time, with William waking up in the afternoon to feed her... So he wasn't really that good of a father. But he had much to provide. By 2005, Sherby(6) entered kindergarten, which was near her home. Walking inside the school, with all the students impressed or amazed by her looks. Seeing something this rare felt mythical, so of course they all wanted to befriend her, which she would always deny, she's not looking for people who are only interested in her looks, and not herself. But she wasn't a brightminded person, she would usually not listen in class, resulting with her having to ask what subject they're on, over and over again until she finally understood what they're supposed to learn. By the time she usually goes home off her school bus, she'd find her father on the couch asleep or in his room, so she had to teach herself how to cook herself food, even if it was just eggs or soup, a few months pass, and when she made it to school, a group of bullies started to pick on Sherby, making fun of her looks and calling her stupid out of nowhere, this upsettted Sherby as it was so out of nowhere, and it was really harsh for her at the time. Still, she went and studied. Came home and cried, crying to her father, whom was awake during this. Telling William about the bullies that made fun of her, it furiated him. And by this time, late at night once again, Sherby snuck out her room to grab some cookies. Only to see her father rush outside the house to drive his car, Sherby was worried when she saw this, thinking it was about her... Scared he was mad at her, she didn't eat any of the cookies and went back to sleep, when Sherby woke up, she noticed the jar of cookies on her bed with a note sticked onto it saying "I know you eat these, so it was weird not seeing you eat them!" Sherby was giddy it wasn't about them, eating two cookies before preparing for school, by the time she's made it to her school, the bullies were absent, maybe they left for good? It didn't bother Sherby since she hated them, continuing with her school work until she graduated kindergarten. A few years pass by, with nothing interesting really happening around 2007 to 2014. But by 2015, Sherby(16) entered her sophomore year. Where she would meet George McCarter, who was nice and kind to her. Even showing off the whole school, and at first... She felt off about this person, but soon after she would develop feelings for him. Slowly following him and getting to know him, at the same time, when she made it back to her home at night, because she went to the mall to buy some clothes, she found her father, William, staring at the window... This late..? She went to go check if he was asleep and he was awake, staring at the neighbor... How weird. A few days of school pass, and she's already getting close to George, deciding whether she was ever going to confess... Until George himself confessed. Making her heart swirl with joy... Of course, she accepted him whole heartedly, at the start of their relationship, Sherby was making sure that George felt love and cared for. Buying him things and stuff... But George wasn't doing anything for their relationship, just flirting and seducing. Sherby was weirded out by this, but was okay with it overall. A week pass and she builds the courage to tell her dad about george, and William is really acceptable of George. Even going on as to say "they look cute together", which made her heart swirl more... That was until one school day, while in class. George asks Sherby to come with him, as they run through the halls, reaching a secret spot in the school. Underneath the stairs, in a small stair shed where nobody could hear or see them... George leaned in with a kiss, hugging Sherby, as he was almost about to remove her top, which shocked Sherby, causing her to push back and run away from the shed, back to her class... Confused, but still cared about George... Later that day, George confronted Sherby, George was angry, saying that Sherby didn't care about their relationship, and before she even could say a word, George slapped her, causing her to fall to the ground. With George breaking up with her... It broke her heart, it made her feel small... When school was over, she went to tell her father about it. Expressing how horrible she feels. And almost instantly, william asked where George lived. She looked to her father with confusion, asking why. With William responding with a simple "I will go talk to his parents about this." Which is strange since, George lived alone... But she did anyway, later that night she saw her father go into his car, and drive to away. Probably to her ex boyfriends house... The next day, George didn't make it to school... Which means that George got grounded by his parents? Or even better, George got punished by his parents! It made her feel better, seeing karma get to him... But he didn't come back, and after a week. The school mourned the death of George McCarter, who died at his home with his throat cut. It shocked Sherby... George... Killed himself? Over this? She felt shocked, and also pity, she never thought someone of his level would do such a thing... After class, she comes back home to ask her dad what she told George, with him responding with "I told him what he deserved. Besides, I wouldn't let anybody hurt as someone as special as you. Not my Sherby." Which cheered up Sherby a but... Deep down she blamed herself for George's death, he only died because of her... And if she didn't run away, he wouldn't have died. A few weeks pass by, she's slowly moving on, deciding on what job she could take... Sneaking out the house late at night, her dad's car is still here so he's still asleep... She walks outside the house, looking around the place, she wants to be independent... Maybe she could also have a job like her father... A job that isn't bleak as his at least. On the weekends she found one... But it's pretty far away, like... An hour away from where she lives. She has 0 experience but she still signed up, being a retail cashier... Nervous and a little excited, greeting some customers which they don't respond sometimes. Buying essentials and leaving... This job is kind of boring, she comes home in the afternoon, tired, she slides down to the couch, turning on the TV, hearing the news talk about someone the police titled "The Toronto Home Invader" which startled her a bit... She looked to her left, seeing her father watching the TV, arms crossed... He looks tired and pissed off, which worries Sherby a little bit. The news reporter begins to talk about what they know of the Toronto Home Invader, breaking into their house, stealing valuables then killing his victims. It terrified Sherby, but her father didn't look as scared. More so he looks frustrated... She asked her dad why he looked so angry when he saw the news, and he just said "Because he can't believe someone would go as low to steal and kill someone." Which made Sherby giggle a little bit, agreeing with her dad. The next day, she goes out to the mall, seeing everyone so paranoid of one another. Entering a pawn shop, since she has allowance money, maybe she could buy something with it that isn't junk food or McDonalds, she looks around, her eyes batting to a guitar... It looks cool, but she knows that it's hard to play, but nonetheless she buys it anyway, she wants to try to do guitar... Maybe she'll become a musician when she grows up! Coming home with the guitar, she opens up YouTube to watch some video lessons, already becoming overwhelmed... There's too many notes.. uhm.. whatever that other thing is... But even after that, she's still determined to atleast try to play music! So for the entire night, she stayed up, playing guitar until she managed to get one tune right, a solo even! However, as she kept playing. She heard her dad knock on the door, "Hey" he responded, "You should be asleep. It's past 3:00 already." Before looking at the guitar "Oh, you're playing music, well, is it okay if I could tell you a story about your mom? If it's fine with you of course" Sherby doesnt know much about her mother, so of course she would say "sure, it wouldn't hurt a bit..." William sat down next to her, then said "When I was about your age, when I met your mother. She loved music, she would hum and sing to me everytime I was sad or miserable, she was the sweetest thing anyone could ever meet in their life... If she were here, she'd be proud of you, very proud..." Sherby would look to William, seeing him tearing up, before wiping those tears away and going out her room, the next day Sherby in her room, watching markiplier, laughing at his jokes and paying attention to the video... She wonders if she could ever become a YouTuber like him... Maybe a music YouTuber? That would be cool, she turns off her laptop, before preparing to go cook herself lunch, before hearing a knock on the door, it being the... The police? They said if it was fine to enter the house, this is scary and awkward... She declines at first, but after 1 minute, she agrees and lets the cops explore the house, trying to not pay attention as they look around the place, checking their rooms and closets. Why are they here? Did she get in trouble? Is this about George..? After 36 minutes of searching, they thank Sherby before leaving, that was... Strange. Her father arrives home 2 hours later, he looks horrified, asking if the police went to their house, she said yes and he sat down, sighing, then going into his room. Asking if they entered his room, which then she responded yes again. Before slamming the door shut... Is he mad..? She thinks to herself, turning on the TV again, hearing the news "Breaking news! The Toronto Home Invader strikes again! Police have 7 main suspects, which they will not reveal on this time, however. The Toronto Home Invader has seem to stop invading our homes, leaving us alone for the first time..?" She swapped the channel, not wanting to be scared enough for today, she looks at the door, walks up to it and locks it, sitting back down to watch some cartoons before drifting asleep on the couch. The next morning she goes to school, finishing her schoolwork and joining the music class to learn how to play guitar. During lunch time, she gets a call from her father. Asking where she is, she responds "I'm in school, why?" Which then he sighs with relief, Sherby confused, asks why her dad's asking where she is, he just responds with "You left your favorite sweater at home." Which then she giggles to, arriving at home, resting at her bed, enjoying her life so far... A year later. 2016, Sherby(17) graduates sophomore, going on stage to get her deploma, as she looks around. And sees her father cheering for her... As he actually made it! On their way home, William and Sherby chit chat in the car, talking about life and what Sherby wants to be when she turns 19, a musician? A train conductor? She's still deciding! Her and her father chit chat some more before going home, Sherby rests easily on her bed, slowly realising that... She's the only person working at... Retail.. the next day she goes to work, to confirm if she's actually alone, or if she's just kookoo crazy. And well.. she is! She didn't realise she had co-workers, she's been caught up with so many other things, she didn't acknowledge these guys'existence... After a while, she sees them talking to eachother, maybe this is her chance to greet herself! She walks up towards them, with both their eyes darting towards hers, waiting for her to say something.. and she responds with "uhhmm... Hello.. byee!!" She immediately runs, feeling intimidated, running back to the register, back to where she belongs... Before being met by the other two again... "Hey, you dropped your phone on the ground while you were running." She hands her phone over to Sherby, who still feels intimidated... But accepts that they're friendly... "Thanks... I'm Sherby.." she grabs her phone, and chuckles, looking downwards with embarassment. "Well, I'm Jamie, and this is Ryan. It's nice to meet you Sherby.. even though we've tried talking to you, it's nice to-" Sherby immediately cuts them off, shouting "You guys tried to wha?! I didn't know! I think I was so zoned out with work that I didn't uhm.. notice you guys... Sorry..." They both laughed it out, Ryan replied "it's no big deal! Besides, atleast you're talking to us now... You wanna join us tomorrow? We're gonna go bowling, of course if your fine with it..." Seizing the opportunity to have a reason to go outside the house for a reason that isn't school or work, she agreed immediately! Having a chit chat for a while, before heading back home late at night, seeing her dad worried and scared, hugging her as she finally made it back home. "Where were you?" William asked, and Sherby said that she made friends, which relieved the father. With him sighing, then chuckling, then going into his bedroom to sleep... And so does Sherby... The next day, she meets up with her Ryan and Jamie, introducing Andrew to Sherby. As they both greet eachother and enter the bowling alley, having a blast, playing games and get to know eachother very well, with Jamie being supportive about sherby becoming a YouTuber... And after 9 hours of playing and having fun, they all went back home. Where Sherby finally, decided to make her YouTube channel, thinking about it for a moment. What name would she use? "CURIOUSITYB0X"? Already taken.. "TheCatPlague"..? No it's too corny... hmm... How about "LOVERDOVE" sounds cute, and it's free to take! And choosing a niché genre that won't definitely not get popular in the future! Commentary! She gets to talk about or critize all the things she wants now... And hopefully make money off of this! Two years pass, as not a lot really happens, she gets a car, gets her own home(which is where she lives now) and reaches 5 thousand subscribers but that's just about it. And Sherby(19) makes it back home, driving her way back home. Only to see cars surrounding the house, news outlets, everything. It freaked her out! Exiting her out to question what's going on. Seeing her father handcuffed, and being taken away. Listening to the news reporter on the news "today we are live, and believe it or not. The Toronto Home Invader, who has been terrorizing this city for a decade and two years, has finally been caught. Why would he have the time to do any of it! She rushes in, bumbling through, to get to her father. But it was too late, as the car drives off. Sherby, absolutely devastated. Goes on call with a friend, to vent just what happened, shurby, out of all this. Won't believe that her father. The very person who was never late to arrive, was always there to take care of her. To be the Toronto Home Invader. No, no it can't be true. She doesn't doubt it one bit. Visiting the police department to meet with her father, to confirm if any of this is true. "Dad. Is any of what they say you were true? Are you the?-" William cuts her off "No. Sweetheart. I am not the Toronto Home Invader." She sighs with relief. Trying to convince the cops that he's Innocent, that they've got the wrong guy, but they weren't buying it. Leaving in a storm, mad, furious, and incredibly angry. Swearing shed prove her father Innocent. Knowing that he isn't the murderer, so does he. Fighting for her father throughout the years. And finally, in 2025, six years after he was arrested. She lives peacefully in her apartment, graduated college. With her friends helping her pay the tuition, still fighting for her dad. But focused on her YouTube career, relationships, and her job. Still working as a cashier... But nonetheless, despite all of this. She knows that even in the darkest hours.
