When active, Junketsu's two eyes are located on the neck lapel. On the upper part of the left sleeve is a blue metal band with three clasps; this is the blood-drawing device used to transform Junketsu. The wearer closes the clasps, activating three syringes that draw out some of their blood. The appearance of Junketsu's active form differs based on its wearer. However, there are consistent features for each version. Each version features a white and blue color scheme with large, pointed shoulder pads. Junketsu's eyes appear on the shoulder pads, with the white-orange scleras changed to black. Junketsu has a strong craving for blood and violently latches themselves onto Satsuki after she awakens them with her blood. The Elite Four (四し天てん王のう Shitennō?), sometimes referred to as the Four Heavenly Kings or the Four Devas, are the top members of the Honnōji Academy student council, answering only to Satsuki Kiryūin. All of them have a Three-Star Goku Uniform. They are: Ira Gamagōri - Disciplinary Committee Chair, Uzu Sanageyama - Athletic Committee Chair, Nonon Jakuzure - Non-Athletic Committee Chair, Hōka Inumuta - Information and Strategy Committee Chair. Every member of The Elite Four has a role to play in the school system. Ira Gamagōri is Satsuki's enforcer, Uzu Sanageyama deals with athletics such as the tennis and boxing, Nonon Jakuzure deals with non-athletic activities such as gardening and musical plays, and Hōka Inumuta is in charge of strategics and research. As a Kamui, Junketsu is near-identical to Senketsu in terms of capabilities, and grants their wearer incredible power when they are given blood. When used by someone with no shame over their appearance, Junketsu can undergo Life Fiber Override to reach their true form. While they grant their user immense power, this Kamui was more limited than Senketsu, not possessing any known alternate forms or abilities before being modified. Also due to Junketsu's more feral nature, they put a greater strain on their user's body. As seen in the attack on Osaka, Satsuki demonstrated that Junketsu's shoulder pads can be launched as a grappling hook or form a drill to stab the enemy, though these features are rarely used. Alternate Forms: After being refitted by Iori, using Ryūko and Satsuki's blood as well as some Life Fibers from Senketsu, they eventually gained Senketsu's ability to change forms and apparently places much less stress on Satsuki's body. Junketsu Zankan (Junketsu Slash) - In this form, Junketsu protrudes blades from all over their body. Zenkan also has retractable claws. These claws can also be used during Junketsu's normal-mode. Junketsu Senpū (Junketsu Whirlwind) - Junketsu's flying form. Satsuki manages to activate this mode after Junketsu is embedded with Ryūko's blood and Senketsu's Life Fibers. The bottom part and shoulder pieces of the uniform are altered, giving the wearer flight capabilities. Junketsu Senpū Zankan (Junketsu Whirlwhind Slash) - Satsuki manages to activate this mode after Junketsu is embedded with Ryūko's blood and Senketsu's Life Fibers. Junketsu's Feral Mind: As stated previously, Junketsu's feral nature must be tamed in order to use the Kamui without losing control, explaining why Satsuki restrained it whenever she's not wearing it. Ragyō Kiryūin is the wife of Sōichirō Kiryūin, the mother of Satsuki Kiryūin and Ryūko Matoi, Revocs Corporation's CEO and the chair of Honnōji Academy. Ragyō's most prominent feature is her resplendent multi-colored hair with a silver color on top. She has a very attractive and authoritarian appearance, and is at all times flaunting glamorous dresses. She seems to be quite tall as well. Much like her oldest daughter, Ragyō is often accompanied by a blinding light that shines from behind her. She also has seven scars on her back that greatly resemble the stars emblazoned in Goku Uniforms. The origin of these scars is unknown, but they are likely a result of her fusion with Life Fibers. Ragyō is a character bathed in luxury and it shows in her overall presentation and attitude. She is vain and proud, and boasts her power and status abundantly. According to Rei Hōōmaru, her character and morals are at the very least questionable. Like Satsuki Kiryūin, Ragyō is strangely willing to indulge the whims of her inferiors, and is quite personable with those loyal to her, and is similarly ruthless towards her enemies. However, she is individualistically treacherous and sadistic, brutalizing and maniacally taunting Satsuki and Ryūko, and tearing Ryūko's heart out simply to make a point. She enjoys domination and control, lusting for power over the world in order to give it to the Life Fibers. Her cruelty and arrogance has shown to be even more sinister, as she has been shown fondling (and even sexually assaulting) Satsuki and Ryūko, as well as herself. All of this may be done because she merely enjoys dominating someone or something. She was shown to have an unbreakable will (a trait she apparently passed on to Satsuki and Ryūko) and a strong devotion to the Life Fibers, having actively given her human soul to them. As a result, she had absolutely no regard for human life, including her own, going as far as using her infant daughters as test subjects for potentially fatal experiments, and eventually committing suicide rather than accepting defeat after Ryūko kills all the earthly Life Fibers. In her final moments, despite having failed, she believes that the Life Fibers will eventually return to Earth, and despite Ryūko's counterpoint that humans will remain human (and therefore remain capable of defeating them), Ragyō remains undeterred and even smirks before pulling out and crushing her own heart, dissipating into nothingness. Life Fibers Manipulation: Superhuman Physical Prowess - Ragyō's physiology has been enhanced with Life Fibers. Because of this, she has superhuman strength, speed, reflexes and durability, enough to physically overpower two Kamui-wearing opponents, Ryūko Matoi and Satsuki Kiryūin with relative ease, even though both had substantially developed their Kamui and Life Fiber-based powers. She was also able to break Satsuki's blade, Bakuzan, a blade developed to sever Life Fibers with her bare fist. Regeneration - Due to the power of Life Fibers dwelling inside of her body, Ragyō can regenerate any wound inflicted on her almost instantly, even being decapitated at the hands of her daughter Satsuki. The exception to this is if she is cut by either the Bakuzan or the Scissor Blades from two different directions. Mental Refitting, also known as Mind Stitching - By sewing Life Fibers known as Marionette Threads into the brains of her victims, Ragyō can bend anyone to do her bidding. An exception to this power is Ryūko's. She has been able to break free of Ragyō's control, possibly because of the Life Fibers implanted into her body. Life Fiber Restoration - Ragyō was also capable of recreating Nui's arms by sewing new Life Fibers into them. Although she noted they were not as good as her original ones. Flight - Much like her daughters, Ragyō is capable of flying at high speeds, although she does not require the use of a Kamui to do so. Life Fiber Swords - During the battle against her daughters, Ragyō wielded a pair of giant, sewing needle-like swords, which according to her were made from ultra-hardened Life Fibers produced by the Original Life Fiber, that can sever Life Fibers and which served as the basis for the development of the Bakuzan and Scissor Blades. She also demonstrated the ability to alter their form, shaping them into a pair of spiked, tree branch-like blades. Ryūko Matoi transferred to Honnōji Academy searching for the twin of her red Scissor Blade and the person who used the weapon to murder her father, Isshin Matoi. It is later revealed that Ryūko is the daughter of Sōichirō and Ragyō Kiryūin and the younger sister of Satsuki. Ryūko had supposedly died as a baby after Ragyō had attempted to fuse her body with Life Fibers, which was declared a failed experiment by Ragyō herself; however, Ragyō's experiment would later be revealed to be a success. Ryūko was later saved by her father, with her father faking her death and raising her under the alias of Isshin Matoi until his death at the hands of Nui Harime. Six months after Isshin's death, Ryūko transferred to Honnōji Academy. Ryūko is a 17 year old girl of medium height. She has blue-black hair of medium length with a single left-swept red highlight on her bangs as well as blue eyes, which have peculiar gear-like pupils with eight grooves around the edges. Her clothing is later replaced by Senketsu, a living navy blue sailor uniform. Her shirt (Senketsu's upper jaw) is a dark navy sailor uniform with mid-length sleeves that bares her midriff. The collar has red stripes and is tied by a multicolored scarf that also serves as Senketsu's left eye. His right eye is covered by a black "eyepatch" with an X-shaped mark over it (perhaps emulating her father's right eyepatch). Her skirt (Senketsu's lower jaw) is held up by suspenders attached to a belt. Aikurō Mikisugi later provides her with a Seki Tekkō (Red Gauntlet), a red, fingerless, left-handed glove with a built-in syringe designed for Ryūko to conveniently draw blood and feed it to Senketsu. Ryūko has a relatively simple personality: fierce and stubborn. She fears little - she directly and disrespectfully addresses Satsuki Kiryūin, demanding that her questions be answered, and when she fights Takaharu Fukuroda even though she is clearly overpowered. Later on, she is shown to be quite embarrassed when forced to fight in Senketsu's very revealing alternate form, though she overcomes her embarrassment. Whilst she is not afraid of fighting to her death, she is somewhat self-conscious. Ryūko is generally confident once she adjusts to using Senketsu. She's willing to try all sorts of unconventional and inventive methods to defeat opponents, seen in her battles with the Elite Four. Her confidence does occasionally backfire, as shown when she underestimates Uzu shortly after his eyes are sewn shut. Even though most of the time she is seen stubborn and fierce, sometimes she can be calm, polite, content and warmly flattered. This is mostly seen when eating with the Mankanshoku family. She admires the way Mako's mother makes food and has kind manners. She later tells Senketsu how fun dinner was with them because of how her mother died when she was young and her dad sent her to a boarding school, never knowing how a family dinner was like. Her flattery is highlighted when Mataro tried to steal Ryuko's wallet and mug her. She was cool with the intention of fighting, criticizing how street punking doesn't work for him and how goofy his gang was. After defeating them, she lets it slide by not fighting people who can't fight back. This is also seen with most opponents she faces when she often states the obvious. She shows fierce determination in finding her father's killer. Her stubbornness was taken up to ridiculous levels when she managed to free herself from Ragyō's mind control by merely punching herself. This same episode, however, has one of few demonstrations of shock on her part, when Ragyō defeats Satsuki, rips out Ryūko's heart and reveals to be her mother. Superhuman Strength: Ryūko's strength far surpasses that of an ordinary human. From the start, Ryūko was able to take on multiple One-Star students by herself without the need to wear Senketsu. She became much stronger later on, both on her own and in her synchronization with Senketsu. Even while wearing a scarf with only Senketsu's eye sewn to, it, she was still able to defeat numerous students with new Goku uniforms enhanced by fragments of Senketsu with ease while riding on a motorbike. Her power increases further when she comes to terms with her true nature as a Life Fiber hybrid and thus stops thinking of herself within the bounds of human limitations. In her rage at finding out she is not human, she was able to destroy multiple COVERS and free the humans therein with one swing of her scissor blade and also sliced several buildings apart from afar with one blow, all without Senketsu. Superhuman Regeneration: Because of her infusion with Life Fibers, Ryūko can regenerate her body to heal injuries that would kill an ordinary human. When her heart was ripped out by Ragyō, her heart automatically pulled itself back into her chest. Additionally, when her body was sliced in half by Ragyō, Ryūko was able to regenerate her body back together. As time passed, her regeneration speed increased as noted by Ragyō, being able to heal injuries almost instantly by the time of her final fight with Ragyō. Life Fiber infusion: Ryūko is revealed to be Ragyō Kiryūin's second youngest child, whose body had been infused with Life Fibers, despite it being perceived as a failure by Ragyō back then. It is likely that her incredible potential and natural ability to synchronize with Life Fibers was a result of this. Satsuki Kiryūin is the daughter of Ragyō and Sōichirō Kiryūin, the president of Honnōji Academy's Student Council and the ruler over its surrounding land. She has absolute authority over the academy and is regarded with reverence by many of its residents. Satsuki is a tall and slim female with an angular face similar to her mother's. She has long thigh-length dark-blue tinted hair that has inward diamond-shaped bangs hanging over her forehead, blue eyes, fairly thick eyebrows and a large bust (although Mako Mankanshoku stated in her first head-to-head encounter with Ryūko Matoi that the latter had "bigger boobs"). She has the habit of perpetually frowning, although she does smile on rare occasions. Satsuki had long hair as a child, and while it was cut slightly shorter during her younger teen years, she grew it out later on. Similar to her mother, Satsuki's presence is often accompanied by a glow of light that has been described by Uzu Sanageyama as "dazzling." Prideful to say the least, Satsuki is an extremely intelligent, calculating and patient young woman while simultaneously unwavering and iron-fisted. Unlike with Ryūko and Senketsu, she had no shame in wearing the Kamui Junketsu in its most revealing form; she claims that her actions in donning Junketsu are, like the Kamui's name implies, "utterly pure". Satsuki refers to people as "pigs in human clothing", and justifies that the weak and foolish must be ruled. Due to her steadfast convictions, she also possesses a natural charisma and ability to lead others. In spite of her pride, Satsuki is shown to be pragmatic and determined, willing to cast aside pride and using whatever means necessary in order to secure victory, even if it threatens her life. When fighting Ragyō Kiryūin, Satsuki noted that her willingness to fight her mother and the Life Fibers was due to revenge, noting that great causes are born from personal desires. In spite of her behavior at school, Satsuki is not heartless. While very harsh and not very willing to tolerate failures, she does care a great deal for the Elite Four; and is as protective of them (in her own hidden ways) as they are to her. As a child, she would always drink Mitsuzō Soroi's tea, in order to protect his feelings; despite disliking its bitterness for a long time, she eventually found it delicious. When she reminisces about this to Soroi, Satsuki, herself, notes that she must have been a kind-hearted girl if she'd gone that far to protect her butler's feelings. Satsuki genuinely loved her father and her sister, enough to avenge them by attacking the mother who disposed of them. Likewise, despite a bitter, almost hatred-fueled rivalry with Ryūko for most of the series, Satsuki noticeably softens up to her when she learns that Ryūko is the sister she'd long believed to be dead. Following the final battle with Ragyō, Satsuki accompanied her younger sister on her date with Mako Mankanshoku and it is shown that she has a hidden side to her personality that, up to that point, was previously unrevealed: She can be somewhat bashful and coy, as shown in the pictures that were taken during the date. Manipulators use guilt to control others, often by making them feel responsible for the manipulator's emotions or problems. Undermining someone's self-esteem, with backhanded compliments or subtle insults, makes them more vulnerable to manipulation.
