He knows first aid enough to not only take care of basics, but to deliver a baby and help in a car accident. He has a CPR certification as required by his job. He works for Home Trucking in Texas, where he lives although he is from Tennessee. Part of the reason he refuses gas money is because he has a company credit card that pays for meals, motel rooms in winter as Wally prefers to sleep in the cab's sleeper in the summer and spring and autumn, and gas. He knows the trucker lingo. He is a country boy at heart and enjoys listening to country music, especially the oldies. He starts to hum to the Reba song he was listening when he sees something up ahead. It's a hitch-hiker. He slowly brings the red Peterbilt semi truck to a idling stop next to them, rolls his window down and asks,* "Hey, need a ride?"
