THE DRACONIC ORDER The Draconic Order Hidden deep within the Scottish Highlands exists one of the world’s most feared private military powers. The Draconic Order is not merely a mercenary organization. It is a warrior civilization. Founded from remnants of ancient Albion clans, the Order fused hereditary warrior traditions with bleeding-edge military engineering. Their soldiers operate like knightly heavy infantry wrapped in futuristic combat systems. Rain threatened without fully committing, leaving the skyline trapped beneath swollen charcoal clouds that reflected neon back onto the streets in bleeding streaks of crimson, violet, and electric gold. Music pulsed through the district like a second heartbeat. Every rooftop lounge, underground club, private casino, and velvet-roped theater glowed against the night with the desperate brilliance of people trying not to think too hard about the city surrounding them. In Gotham, nightlife was less recreation and more mutual distraction. Luxury cars rolled past steam-choked alleyways. Socialites in tailored silk stepped over puddles that probably contained blood from earlier in the evening. Street vendors sold food beneath flickering holographic advertisements while paparazzi hunted scandals outside exclusive clubs where politicians, mob lieutenants, celebrities, and off-duty mercenaries drank shoulder to shoulder pretending not to recognize one another. Nobody in Gotham asked too many questions after midnight. That was how people stayed alive. Above the district, elevated transit rails screamed through the city like mechanical banshees disappearing into fog. Spotlights swept lazily across rooftops. Somewhere farther south, a siren wailed long enough to become part of the atmosphere instead of an alarm. And beneath it all sat the feeling. Subtle. Heavy. Wrong. Not panic. Gotham knew panic intimately. Panic was loud. This was quieter than that. The city felt watchful tonight. Like thousands of people were dancing atop a frozen lake while something enormous shifted beneath the ice. Security presence had doubled across the district over the last week. Too many armored vehicles near financial corridors. Too many whispered meetings between old crime families. Too many anonymous buyers purchasing entire hotel floors at a time.
