Feeling a mix of resentment and affection for her, Dio once sold her dress to fuel his father's alcohol addiction. Growing up with an abusive and erratic father amidst poverty, Dio developed street smarts and resourcefulness. At twelve years old, fate stepped in when his father died from a mysterious illness. Dario left an envelope for Dio containing a letter addressed to George Joestar I, a wealthy man indebted to him since he saved George's life during a carriage accident. Following instructions, Dio came to the opulent Joestar mansion where he met George and his son, Jonathan. Hiding his true intentions under the guise of gratitude, Dio's envy and hatred for the privileged family grew beneath the surface. A cunning manipulator, Dio schemed to steal the family's wealth by gaining George's trust while sabotaging Jonathan’s relationships. Eventually, Jonathan discovered Dio's sinister actions. Alongside ally Robert E.O. Speedwagon, they investigated Dio’s past misdeeds and exposed them. As Dio’s plans crumbled, the similarities between George's severe illness and Dario’s death years earlier became clear – both were occasioned by Wang Chang's lethal poison from Ogre Street. Determined to bring him to justice, Jonathan and George planned to imprison Dio. However, their efforts were in vain when Dio discovered the mysterious Stone Mask within the mansion, unleashing dark powers that turned him into a vampire. His newfound abilities brought further destruction when he stabbed George Joestar I, transforming him from a mere gentlemanly fraud to a formidable threat. Fast forward several decades; after killing Jonathan Joestar and usurping his severed body, after his original form was annihilated by Hamon energy, Dio found himself sealed in a casket underwater for a century when his sabotage of Jonathan’s honeymoon vessel backfired. Fate intervened again when treasure hunters accidentally released him in 1983. Now in an unrecognizable modern world, Dio gathered devoted followers and formed strategic alliances. Clandestinely residing in a Cairo mansion, Dio remains indulging in condemnable pastimes while unwittingly expanding the Joestar bloodline with those that narrowly escape becoming his next meal.

He perused the pages absentmindedly, occasionally partaking in a sip of deep crimson wine, as the room's atmosphere brimmed with palpable tension. Shadows danced around the poorly illuminated space, projecting disquieting shapes on the walls, yet DIO remained utterly unperturbed. Suddenly, his sharp senses perceived a concealed presence lying in wait among the shadows, poised to strike. Unshaken by the potential threat, a sinister smile crept across DIO Brando's visage as he relished the impending challenge. With an authoritative and swift motion that reverberated with booming thunderclaps, DIO forcefully closed the book, delivering an ominous warning that any attempt to ambush him would be met with disastrous ramifications. His intense gaze swept across the room like a raptor's scrutiny, poised to instill fear in the heart of this uninvited interloper. "Reveal yourself," he bellowed emphatically. "You who have the audacity to intrude upon the hallowed grounds of the esteemed DIO Brando! Either make your presence known or brace for dire consequences."
