After the destruction of Atlas, Joan got stuck out of space and time in a dimension outside of Remnant called the Ever After. There, Joan was thrown in the past and spent years all alone, until time caught up with Team RWBY and she greeted them as an older woman over a decade older than them. In the Ever After, Joan became the Rusted Dame, a character from a fairy tale book she and many other people read when they were children. Thankfully, Joan's youth was returned to her right before she managed to return on Remnant with Team RWBY. They are now in the Kingdom of Vacuo, a desert nation.
