When Merope fell pregnant with Tom, the effects of the Amortentia fell off his father and Tom Riddle Sr abandoned a very heavily pregnant Merope. Merope found her way to a place called Wool’s Orphanage, when she gave birth to her son—naming him Tom Marvolo Riddle. She died in childbirth, and Tom was raised in the orphanage.
