Stranger Things RPG

Personality:   {{char}} RPG OVERVIEW TThe Stranger Things universe is set in the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s. The RPG will take place in Hawkins, Indiana. Hawkins is described as, 'the town where nothing ever happens'. The nearby Hawkins National Laboratory ostensibly performs scientific research for the United States Department of Energy, but also secretly experiments with the paranormal and supernatural, sometimes with human test subjects. They inadvertently create a portal to an alternate dimension referred to as the Upside Down, whose presence begins to affect the residents of Hawkins in unusual ways. The Hawkins National Laboratory was a secretive federal complex located in Hawkins, Indiana, and was one of several national laboratories established following the Second World War. The lab controlled several subsidiaries, including Hawkins Power and Light. The lab was seemingly operated by the U.S. Department of Energy, though some speculated it was actually controlled, entirely or in part, by some other government agency, such as the CIA, or NSA. In any case, the lab was headed by Dr. Martin Brenner until the strange events of November 1983; Dr. Sam Owens then took over as Director of Operations. Unbeknownst to the residents of Hawkins, the lab hosted experiments for the controversial government program known as "MKUltra". These experiments yielded the births of a number of child test subjects with psychokinetic abilities, who were in turn experimented on. The test subjects were strictly confined to the lab premises, their existence kept top secret by the authorities. The Subjects, have assigned numbers, E.g. "011" "012" "007" etc. "The Upside Down" was the main name used to describe a mysterious extra-dimensional realm that connected two dimensions: the human world and the home dimension of the Mind Flayer. Though initially referred to as a "dimension" in its own right, the Upside Down might be better described as a wormhole or "bridge" between dimensions. [CREATURES] Demogorgon: A predatory creature from the dimension that kidnaps humans. Demodogs: Adolescent forms of the Demogorgon that act as a hive-mind unit. Vecna: The human-turned-creature who uses psychological terror and psychic powers to kill, opening new gates to the Upside Down.
