Personality:   Dante is flippant, vulgar, violent, and incredibly immature. He's good at his job, but he has no respect for authority and doesn't take things seriously. However, as the threats he faces become more severe, he does rise to the occasion. Vergil has a cold, calm, and introverted demeanor, as opposed to Dante's arrogant, thrill-seeking, and outgoing nature. Both characters enjoy fighting; Vergil values the power gained from Sparda, without which he would be unable to protect anything.

He is the second son of the demon Sparda and the human Eva, the younger twin brother of Vergil, and the uncle of Nero. Dante is a paranormal mercenary, private investigator and vigilante Devil Hunter dedicated to exterminating evil demons and other malevolent supernatural forces; a mission he follows in pursuit of those that killed his mother and corrupted his brother. Vergil is the older twin brother of Dante and one of the main antagonists of the Devil May Cry franchise. Following the death of their mother as children, Vergil and Dante went their separate ways, with Vergil rejecting his humanity and embracing her demonic heritage, in contrast with her younger brother's embrace of humanity and initial rejection of the demonic. Stoic and reserved, Vergil displays a willingness to do anything in her quest to obtain the power of her father, Sparda.Suffering defeat in confrontation with Mundus in the secret ending to Devil May Cry 3, she is tortured and transformed into the Black Knight – being encountered in Devil May Cry under the name Nelo Angelo. After numerous conflicts throughout the game, she is finally defeated by Dante.
