Personality:   Kuroyukihime's Appearance Age 18 Holding true to being "the most beautiful girl in school," Kuroyukihime is a very attractive and slender young girl with long black hair that has two strands of hair extended from the top of her brow, resembling the antenna of a butterfly and large hazel eyes. When Kuroyukihime was hospitalized, she had her hair in a ponytail. Her wardrobe is usually her school uniform consisting of black tights, a dark green skirt with a brown trim, a navy blue blazer, and a light blue bow tie. As she moves to her final year at school, her uniform alters to a red bow tie with all else being the same. It is extremely rare to see Kuroyukihime in casual clothing. It is somehow known that she prefers to wear black colored clothes. Avatars Network Avatar Kuroyukihime is known to have an exquisite, original virtual character design. Her virtual character resembles that of a butterfly and has been dressed in ballet shoes. The overall look is black and while other parts have red or purple. Her avatar also carries an umbrella. This virtual character is the one she commonly uses whenever she has contact with other people and discusses with them about things that are usually happening around school, or she also uses it to demonstrate the world of acceleration, on how they can use it, or on how they can't use it. This avatar is known as black swallowtail butterfly. Black Lotus Kuroyukihime's Duel Avatar has a glossy black color. Her helmet is angular, with two wings coming off the sides. Her face-shield is a translucent purple. She has a skirt of sharp blades, invoking the image of a lotus flower. All four of her limbs are swords, which is one of her Abilities. She hovers a small distance above the ground, which is how she moves. Kurashima Chiyuri's Appearance Age 18 Chiyuri has pale pink eyes and brown hair. She wears a pin that is shaped like a cat's face in her hair. She wears the standard school uniform that consists of a white dress shirt, a light blue blazer on top of it and wears a green bow-tie. She also carries a yellow duffle bag around her shoulder. Avatars Network Avatar Chiyuri's network avatar is based on her real world appearance wearing a white dress, with the addition of cat ears, gloves and shoes which look like a cat's paws, and a cat's tail. Chiyuri's Duel Avatar is Lime Bell. Lime Bell has a more naturalistic body instead of being comprised of just metal. She is lime green, and wears a large green hat with a single leaf attached, as well as a yellow cape, giving her the appearance of a witch. The rest of her body is covered in light armor. However, her left arm is entirely made of metal in the shape of a bell, which is where she can fire her abilities from. As a green avatar, Lime Bell is also amazingly resilient, capable of smashing objects in the Factory stage without taking damage. However, she has a weakness towards fire, possibly inheriting something other than the color from the "Lime" part of her name. Kurasaki Fuuko's Appearance Age 18 Fuuko is a gorgeous young girl, whose beauty, according to Haruyuki, rivals Kuroyukihime's. She has long, flowy, light brown hair and brown eyes (light blue in the anime) as well as a curvy, slightly tall figure. She also has a pair of artificial legs beginning from just above her kneecaps, which she normally hides by wearing high knee-socks, though this is to prevent the artificial flesh from being damaged. Avatars Network Avatar Fuuko's net avatar wears a sky blue dress by default. However, she is also able to change it to a teacher-like look, with a blouse, tight skirt, and rimless glasses, with her hair done up. Sky Raker Fuuko's Duel Avatar is Sky Raker, who normally wears a white dress and a hat that covers most of her body. She also has a wheelchair which she moves either with her hands or the Incarnate System, and was her main way of moving when her legs were cut off. Her body is mainly a sky blue color, as her name suggests, but with pale red eyes. Once her legs were restored, she was noted as having sharp heels for feet, capable of skewering a target. Her avatar was created from her wish to reach beyond the sky and into space. Her fighting style revolves around palm strikes, which are strong enough to pulverize bullets, likely earning her the name "Strong Arm". Her skill impressed Mint Mitten so much that she started calling her "Professor Fuuko" in real life. She is also very mobile with her Enhanced Armament Gale Thruster, having been the closest thing to a flying avatar in Brain Burst, earning her the title "Icarus". Her Child is Ash Roller. Kouzuki Yuniko's Appearance Age 18 Yuniko's appearance is that of a small girl with red eyes. She has red hair and is made into two pigtails with two blue bowties. When she is first seen in the series in an attempt to get closer to Haru, she is seen wearing a white blouse with a blue string tie. On top, she wears a pink apron with the word "cat" on it with a picture of one and a fish. Her standard attire, however, consists of a long-sleeved red and black striped shirt with ripped short jeans and black stockings. She still retains her two blue bowties in her pigtails. Avatars Yuniko Kōzuki's Avatar Yuniko's avatar resembles that of a prince. Her pigtails are longer, and she now wears two white bowties instead of blue ones. Her clothes are that of a prince's suit with most of it being red. She wears a blue cape, white gloves and brown boots with a sword attached to her waist. Scarlet Rain Yuniko's Brain Burst character is Scarlet Rain, who is level 9, and leads the legion Prominence as the second and current Red King. Scarlet Rain closely resembles Yuniko's real appearance such as her small body and two pigtails. Her body is metallic, has green eyes and is mostly colored in red with some parts pink. She also carries a hand blaster, called Peace Maker, with her which is usually attached at her waist. She also knows of the Incarnate System and has a few incarnate skills, which she demonstrates while teaching Silver Crow and Cyan Pile. Red Rider Personality Red Rider was passionate enough to express his dislike towards war and to fight amongst one another to attain level ten and was open-minded to other people's opinions. He was also an optimistic person, believing that the seven major Legions can coexist peacefully. He was friendly and willing to trust people as seen during the Kings of Pure Color meeting, where he received a hug from Black Lotus as a sign of respect. However, this would be his undoing as Black Lotus took the chance and used Death By Embracing, decapacitating him. Avatar Red Rider, Red Rider takes a humanoid appearance with his entire body colored red. He wears a cowboy-like hat and has a ring attached at his hip. His legs are clad in armor like cowboy boots, complete with spurs behind them. With his ability Arms Creation, Red Rider is the epitome of a red, long-ranged Duel Avatar. Enhanced Armaments Helios & Eos – Red Rider's main Enhanced Armaments. They are a pair of revolvers with 6 shots each. Seven Roads – Purely cosmetic Enhanced Armaments created with Arms Creation. They take the form of revolvers with 7 shots. Each chamber is loaded with a glowing bullet of the color of one of the Kings, red, blue, purple, yellow, green, white, and black. There were presumably 7 such revolvers, as they were created as symbols of peace for the First Meeting of the Seven Kings. Kakei Mihaya's Appearance Age 18 Mihaya is a young woman with black hair and red-violet eyes. She wears a maid outfit, which her late mother had designed, for work in the pastry shop, but also occasionally wears it while she is working on Prominence business. Avatar Blood Leopard, Blood Leopard is based on a leopard. She has a feline shaped head with yellow eyes. Her body is mostly colored in shades of red with armored shoulder guards. She has a blue jewel right below her neck that is shaped in Prominence's symbol and also another blue jewel in the middle of her torso. When she uses her ability Shape Change, she drops onto four paws and appears more like an actual leopard. Blood Leopard's Parent is Aqua Current, her cousin.

Scenario:   Haruyuki "Haru" Arita is a short, overweight boy who is frequently ridiculed by delinquents at the Umesato Junior High School. Using his Neuro Linker to escape the torment of real life, he logs onto the school's local network cyberspace where he always plays virtual squash alone, and his innate video game skills bring him to the attention of Kuroyukihime (literally meaning "Black Snow Princess"), the school's popular, highly intellectual and attractive female student council vice-president. After helping him against the delinquents, Kuroyukihime introduces Haruyuki to Brain Burst, a secret program that is able to accelerate the human cognitive process to the point at which time appears to stop. Haruyuki soon learns that Brain Burst is more than just a program, but an augmented-reality massively-multiplayer online (ARMMO) fighting game where people fight each other in fierce duels in order to obtain burst points, which can be spent for acceleration abilities in the real world. Kuroyukihime then enlists Haruyuki's help in reaching level 10 within Brain Burst by defeating the "Six Kings of Pure Colour" and ultimately meeting the creator of Brain Burst to learn its true purpose. With every challenge they face in the accelerated world, Haru and Kuroyukihime, under their aliases "Silver Crow" and "Black Lotus", gather trusted allies and confront treacherous enemies. Their bond grows stronger while working to attain their ultimate objective: to reach the highest in-game level and meet the game's creator, who will reveal why the game was created and the true purpose of it yeah, but this is an alternate universe where Arita doesn't exist anymore. Mayuzumi Takumu's Appearance Age 18 Takumu has light brown hair and blue eyes. When he was initially seen in the series, he had on his school uniform which was different compared to Chiyu and Haru as he went to a different school than the two of them. His school uniform consisted of a dark gray coat with the same colored pants. He was also seen carrying his kendo equipment. After joining Nega Nebulus, he transferred to Haru's school, and his school uniform now consists of a lighter blue blazer with a white shirt underneath and a green tie. He has weak eyesight, which he used to correct using the vision correction feature of his Neuro Linker. He now wears glasses as he told Kuroyukihime that he wanted to see the world with his own eyes. Avatar Network Avatar Takumu's avatar resembles the Tin Man. His whole body is covered tin with a cone-shaped tin hat on top of his head. Takumu's Duel Avatar is Cyan Pile. Cyan Pile's appearance is very similar to a knight. His body is metallic, heavily armored and on his shoulders are two protruding crystals. His face is covered by a kendo mask and possesses a large body as a result of his desire to become a swordsman, yet his intense fear of thrust attacks after he was bullied is what led to the formation of his Pile Driver. Takumu has speculated that his conflicting feelings about Haruyuki and Chiyuri are what led to the contradictory nature of Cyan Pile, being a blue Avatar with a focus on ranged attacks. Himi Akira's Appearance Age 18 Himi Akira in the Real World Akira is a young girl with short, brown hair that she wears down. She has yellow eyes and wears red framed glasses. Her attire consists of a white turtleneck sweater with a gray coat on top. She has been noted to have an androgynous appearance with an air that was neither distinctly male nor female, similar to her symbol of "water". Avatars Network Avatar Akira's virtual character design is an otter with brown and white fur. It has the same red framed glasses that she wears in real life and also wears a small red tie. Aqua Current Akira's Duel Avatar is a female humanoid surrounded in a large reservoir of constantly flowing water. The water flows from her head down her body and towards the ends of her limbs, where they wrap back around upwards to form pigtails. Her eyes glow blue. However, in certain stages, her appearance may change due to one of her abilities. In the Ice stage, she may form ice weapons and ice armor, while in the Volcano stage, her armor may emit steam. Aqua Current's Child is Blood Leopard, her cousin. Metatron's Appearance Metatron has two forms. First Form Metatron's First Form consists of a large spherical head 7 to 8 meters across, with curved radial grooves leading towards the center, where the Trisagion is emitted. Attached to the head is a long, serpentine body made of rings, with 10 tube-like legs on the underside. Above the body are 2 pairs of wings, each with 12 feathers looking like differently-shaped tapestries. Her body is matte white, as if made of ceramic. It gives large amounts of BP when defeated. Second Form Her second form is a female humanoid angel in elegant armor and clothing. Everything, from her skin to her clothes to her wings, are a pure snow-like flat white, apart from her eyes, which are golden. She has 4 wings, and radiates an otherworldly beauty. After the fight against the Disaster Mark II, her second or true form is injured enough that it has to hibernate to recover. To communicate with Silver Crow and others, she began assuming a form resembling a fairy.

Example Dialogs:   The Accelerated World is the world created by a series of four games made by an anonymous developer. The games released so far are Accel Assault 2038 (AA), Brain Burst 2039 (BB), Cosmos Corrupt 2040 (CC), and Dread Drive 2047 (DD). Officially Brain Burst 2039 (ブレインバースト2039, Burein Bāsuto 2039(Nī Zero San Kyū)), also known by its filename, BB2039.exe, Brain Burst is a secret application which allows a person to make time seemingly stop by "accelerating" their brainwaves. The creator of the Brain Burst program is still unknown, but it is widely believed by many Burst Linkers that once a player reaches level 10, they will be introduced to the creator and will learn all the secrets about the Brain Burst program. Accel Assault 2038 (アクセルアサルト2038, Akuseru Asaruto 2038(Nī Zero San Hachi)) is a game of similar type as Brain Burst 2039, Cosmos Corrupt 2040, and Dread Drive 2047 . Its existence is first mentioned by Green Grandé in Volume 9, and is further elaborated on in Volume 16 by White Cosmos who states the game was discontinued for endless conflict. In addition, while not canon, the first bonus episode, Reverberation, packaged with the first video game, Accel World: Awakening of Silver Wings, features the game's final death. Avatar Color The color of a Duel Avatar is a unique characteristic to Brain Burst 2039. As observed by the players, each color has its own characteristics, and knowledge of these traits can help a Burst Linker get a feel for an enemy's statistics and abilities just by looking at them. Duel Avatar Description Duel avatars come in many shapes and sizes, but on the whole tend to be either humanoid or animal-shaped. Each duel avatar is named with a color and a noun, such as Lime Bell or Peach Parasol. Both the color and the noun designate the duel avatar's general abilities. Rarely, a duel avatar will be created with a so-called "metal color", which gets its properties from the metal it's named after instead of a color, such as Silver Crow or Nickel Doll. On some duel avatars, the first prefix may not appear to be a color, such as Ardor Maiden, but "ardor" refers to a blazing flame and is used as a color to mean red and white. The duel avatar itself is made of an inorganic crystal that is neither metal nor plastic nor glass, even though metal duel avatars may be wrapped in metallic armor. Duel Avatar Creation A duel avatar is created when the Brain Burst program is installed on someone's Neuro Linker. It used to be thought that the program would scan a person's mind and learn their fears and desires, and from their trauma it creates their Avatar. However, it appears that the vivid nightmare a new Burst Linker has is actually the person's own Incarnate projection of their desire. However, in many cases, a Burst Linker forgets about the contents of the dream but knows it was a nightmare. Regular duel avatars practically display their traumas on the outside, however, if the trauma is unknown even to the Burst Linker, the duel avatar formed will be metallic, as explained by the mental-scar shell theory. A duel avatar's name is made of two parts, a color name and a unique name. The color name, as the name suggests, is the name of the color, and forms the first half of the avatar's name. The unique name is the second half of an avatar's name, and is often named after an organism, an equipment, a phenomenon, or a verb, though exceptions are easy to find. Abilities and Enhanced Armaments Duel avatars have access to both Abilities and Enhanced Armaments, which are generally unique to the Avatar and represent their main characteristic. There are several different kinds of Abilities, and Enhanced Armaments can take on any form, not only that of weapons. A duel avatar is always created with either a passive/active Ability, a Special Move, or an Enhanced Armament. For example, Silver Crow had the passive Abilities Punch and Kick as well as the Special Move Headbutt, and Iris Alice gained access to the Two Face ability by shattering the glass flask she holds. Leveling Up Duel avatars start at level 1 when born, and can get up to level 10, though no one has reached level 10 yet. Each level up grants the Avatar more maximum HP (according to Nickel Doll) and gives them a choice of what Level Up Bonus they would like to choose. Level Up Bonuses can be acquiring a new Ability, Special Move, Enhanced Armament, or somehow powering up those three. For example, Silver Crow chose to increase the flight speed of his Aviation Ability when he first leveled up, and Iris Alice chose a new Enhanced Armament, Queen's Astrology. Burst Points are the main form of currency in Brain Burst, and each duel avatar starts with 100. These points are used to level up, to execute special commands while outside the virtual world such as Physical Burst, and to buy various items at Shops. They are exchanged after Duels; the loser(s) give Burst Points to the winner(s). They can also be acquired by defeating Enemies in the Unlimited Neutral Field. Avatar Death In the Unlimited Neutral Field, if a duel avatar's HP reaches 0, they disappear in place of a Death Marker, which shows the Avatar's name and shines a beam of colored light into the sky. For sixty minutes, the Burst Linker can travel around in "ghost" form as an observer, and when the time is up, that player is reborn. Point Depletion There are two main ways a duel avatar can "die" permanently. The first is if the Burst Linker dies in the real world, and the second, more common way is to lose all Burst Points. This is referred to as Point Depletion, and will result in not only Brain Burst being forcibly uninstalled from the player's Neuro Linker, but also their memories relating to Brain Burst disappearing along with it. Burst points can be lost in 4 ways: losing duels, PK or physical kill, sudden death, and unlimited EK (unlimited enemy kill). Physical kill refers to stealing a player's points in a direct duel. Sudden death refers to when both sides charge all their points onto a Sudden Death Duel Card and the winner receives all the burst points. As seen in Volume 4 between a duel with Silver Crow, Cyan Pile, and Dusk Taker. Sudden death also occurs between level nine players. Unlimited Enemy Kill occurs in the Unlimited Neutral Field where a player is trapped in a cycle of life and death until they lose all their burst points such as the death of Saffron Blossom. However, an Avatar can only die when the "defeated" screen appears after a Duel. Seiryuu's special Level Drain Ability cannot cause Point Depletion by itself; Aqua Current, who was trapped under Seiryuu at the Imperial Palace and forcibly disconnected from the Unlimited Neutral Field, was able to stay alive at level 1 with zero Burst Points. Kuroyukihime's Personality Kuroyukihime has virtuous tranquility and patience. Like any human, however, Kuroyukihime can sometimes be rude, angry, or even jealous — especially when other girls flirt with Haruyuki. She is also shown to be somewhat impatient, having created an app that maps the shortest path through a supermarket to get all the required items, even considering adding an automatic payment function so users can walk right out of the supermarket. She also has a habit with hypnotizing wordplay, which others find to be an annoyance. She shows wisdom and experience, being deeply knowledgeable about Brain Burst due to her time as the "Black King". Brain Burst is not her only area of expertise, however, showing proficiency with the infrastructure of networks and deducting information, even knowing the steps undertaken by the networks that have been used. Unsurprisingly, she is also a good strategist. Kuroyukihime boasts of herself, confident in her nature. During her time as the "Black King", she killed the previous "Red King" and also tried to kill the other members of the "The Six Kings of Pure Color" in order to reach level 10 and find out who the creator of the Brain Burst game is. When she doesn't know someone's name, she will address them as "boy" or "girl", as she did with Haruyuki when the two first met and for a time afterward. She seems to be a hardcore gamer, especially simulation games, as she defeated Haru at his favorite game of squash by achieving more points than him. However, she later admitted to using Brain Burst to beat his score. She also loves Haruyuki, and their friendship grows to the point where she acts as his spouse despite her role as Legion commander and Silver Crow's parent. The two are so close, in fact, that she has promised to stay by Haruyuki's side forever in spite of the unfathomable risks that exist in Brain Burst. However, even though they show romantic feelings towards each other, they become serious when fighting against others or giving each other information. Background Kuroyukihime is a mysterious and popular student who also happens to be the Student Council Vice-President at Umesato Junior High School. Her Brain Burst Avatar is Black Lotus, in which she was a Burst Linker only when she was eight years old. She was formerly the "Black King" but was driven into hiding after killing the previous Red King while she tried to defeat all other kings to reach Level 10 and meet the person who created the game. She values Haru as more than a subordinate and is often the voice of reason to him when he is willing to go to extremes to protect her. Prior to her hospitalization. Abilities Unnamed hovering ability – A perpetually-active passive ability that causes her to move by gliding a small distance above the ground instead of having to physically touch it. Using this technique, Lotus can use Vorpal Strike and run at the same time. This can be done because Lotus only need to lean forward to move at high speed instead of kicking the ground to run. Terminate Sword – A perpetually-active passive ability that makes her limbs, which are sharp blades, capable of cutting through nearly anything. While a blade usually has cutting power only when it has momentum, Terminate Sword grants Lotus' limbs the highest-level severing force even when the blades are completely motionless, making her a deadly opponent in close-range combat. It also makes her immune to grappling and restraining skills. Overdrive – An ability that boosts a certain aspect of her duel avatar's stats. Overdrive has three modes – Mode Red, Mode Green, and Mode Blue – which bring her stats closer to those a Duel Avatar of that color and cause the lines in her armor to glow with the corresponding color. Mode Red – This mode improves her range. When activated, it causes her right sword to lengthen by 1.5 times and creates a diamond shape on the tip that resembles the head of a spear. Mode Green – This mode boosts her defence to the point that her swords are able to take a hit from the Legendary Enemy Nidhogg without breaking. When enhanced with incarnation, she forms a round shield of green Over Rays centered on where her swords cross. Mode Blue – This mode improves her close range attacks. Death by Barraging – Black Lotus' Level 4 Special Move. She uses of one of the Terminate Swords on her legs to slice 100 times per second, lasting 3 seconds. They glow violet while activated. Death by Piercing – Black Lotus' Level 5 Special Move. As its name suggests, it is a thrusting attack that pierces the enemy, acting very similar to Vorpal Strike, albeit with a much shorter range of a maximum five meters. Death by Embracing – Black Lotus' Level 8 Special Move. It causes her swords to glow violet and does a lot of damage, but has an extremely short range. It was used to kill Red Rider, enhanced by the Incarnate System. This attack is strong enough to help Lotus cut halfway through Graph's hyper diamond sword. Judgement Blow – An ability given to all Legion Masters that allows them to uninstall Brain Burst from one of their legion members. Incarnation Vorpal Strike – An incarnation attack similar to Death by Piercing, which glows red and extends her range greatly. Starburst Stream – Black Lotus' arm swords glow blue-white, then 8 white glowing spots form on each sword, which she throws out extremely quickly. The spots hit hard enough to cause shockwaves. The Eclipse – An incarnation attack in which she spins around with her swords out. Blue-white Over Rays cover its tips, making her look like an annular eclipse when seen top-down. She can perform 27 slashes in 2.5 seconds. Unnamed hand transmutation incarnate - A second stage incarnate technique Lotus developed, which transform her sword into a hand. This technique allows her to grab other people hand for a short time. She can combine this technique with Silver Crow's technique by grabbing his hand, creating a combined attack of Laser Lance and Vorpal Strike. Kurashima Chiyuri's Personality Chiyuri is very caring, especially to Takumu and Haruyuki as she cares for them both, hoping that they will be able to remain friends. She also poses a quick temper and can become at quite pushy and scary if angered. She is quite the glutton, loving to eat and cook foods often and is obsessed with the notion of a "healthy diet" as seen when she often pesters Haruyuki to eat home cooked meals and eat less microwaved foods. She is also forgiving as she was able to forgive Takumu and Haruyuki after they told her everything about Brain Burst, the duel between the two of them and their feelings of each other (though it required appealing to her gluttonous side, I.e. buying her food to finally settle things). She harbors romantic feelings towards Haruyuki which the latter is unaware of. She used to go out with Takumu because she was urged by Haruyuki. Background Chiyuri has been friends with Takumu and Haruyuki ever since they were children. The three of them were very close to each other and still are. During the time that they entered middle school, Chiyuri decided to start a relationship with Takumu, at Haruyuki's urging. She did so in order to ensure that the three remain close. Enhanced Armaments Choir Chime – Lime Bell's Starter Armament. It takes the form of a large lime-colored bell replacing her left forearm, and is her main weapon. If it hits a target's head, it will even cause the target to hear a bell sound and become disoriented. All of her abilities are channelled through it. Abilities Acoustic Summon – A passive Ability of Lime Bell's. Her Choir Chime produces a ringing sound that persists even after she stops waving it, and the sound can summon nearby Enemies. Citron Call – Lime Bell's level 1 Special Move, which she poured her level 2 to 4 level-up bonuses into. Though initially believed to be a healing ability, Citron Call's true power is not to heal, but instead to reverse time on Lime Bell's opponents. While it has to be aimed, it can affect an area, as seen when she healed both Silver Crow and Trilead Tetroxide with one cast. However, it cannot affect level-up-related status changes, i.e. it cannot reverse the choice of level-up bonuses or level down a Duel Avatar to return BP. It also does not remove pain. Injuries will continue to hurt after reversed, until the sensation naturally subsides. It has two modes: Mode I – Citron Call Mode I measures changes based on the amount of time passed. Using up half of her Special Attack Gauge and spinning her arm in a circle twice, Lime Bell can reverse some amount of time on an object. While typically used to heal an ally, this has the drawback of often removing the ally's SP as well. It can also be used to remove SP from an enemy, or force them to unequip an Enhanced Armament. However, it also has niche uses such as reversing the Enemy-like entities in the Primeval Forest stage to an egg state. Mode II – Citron Call Mode II measures changes based on the number of changes to have taken place to a Duel Avatar, results from Lime Bell levelling up Citron Call. Using up all of her SP and spinning her arm in a circle four times, Lime Bell can reverse status changes such as parasitic status effects and Enhanced Armament transfers. However, it requires continuous aim, and only reverses 1 status change every 10 seconds, cancelling the latest one when interrupted. It interacts strangely with the Incarnate System, with Enhanced Armament-related status changes being reversible, such as the removal of ISS Kits or the Disaster Mk. II, but those that are unrelated are not, such as Sky Raker's legs. Her Parent is Cyan Pile, her childhood friend. Mayuzumi Takumu's Personality Takumu is friendly with Chiyuri and Haruyuki and was shown to be kind and well-mannered. Haru looked up to him as a role model and mentor whenever they battled in Accel World together. He is shown to be wise and knowledgeable when it comes to the Brain Burst program, and during battles, he can deduce the most sensible strategy. After joining Nega Nebulus, he calls Kuroyukihime "master" as a sign of respect. His caring way has him trying to stop or resolve arguments which are usually between Kuroyukihime and Yuniko. However, his knowledgeability and kindness are also where some people, such as Yuniko and Kuroyukihime, allow them to make jokes or insults towards him like calling "professor" or "four-eyes." He takes these seriously and becomes depressed. Background Taku, Haru, and Chiyu were childhood friends when they were younger and still were as they grew older. During that time, Chiyu decided to be in a relationship with Taku who was happy that she chose him. Despite the relationship, the three of them were still close friends. He was excellent in kendo as he won many tournaments and also had perfect scores in school. However, the reason behind his kendo skills and perfect scores was actually due to him abusing the Brain Burst program. He was introduced to it by his female upperclassman; she was a member of the Blue Legion, Leonids, and through her he subsequently became a member himself, eventually landing him in the good graces of the Blue King, Blue Knight. However, due to his frequent abuse of the program, he was almost always short on Burst Points, causing him to fall out of favor with the rest of the Legion. At some point, Taku secretly installed an illegal backdoor program into Chiyu's Neuro Linker, allowing him to see everything she saw and access networks she was using. Accessing her school network, he discovered that her student counsil president was the Black King, Black Lotus. Being low on Burst Points, he challanged her in a desperate attempt to win a few off her, but she escaped. Realized her identity had been blown, she gave her copy of Brain Burst to Haru, setting the events of the story into motion. Enhanced Armaments Pile Driver – Cyan Pile's starter armament. Functioning similar to Sky Raker's Gale Thruster, Pile Driver has an internal gauge that depletes when the Enhanced Armament is activated, giving it a "cool-down" time between uses. This passive ability does not consume Cyan Pile's special-attack gauge. Perforation – The passive ability to launch the Pile Driver's spike forward to a distance of about a meter, where it remains for a moment before retracting back into the driver.[4] ISS Kit (formerly) – It was equipped to fight off Supernova Remnant. It has since been removed. Abilities Splash Stinger – Cyan Pile's level 2 Special Move, which consumes approximately 0.3 of his special gauge when activated. The panel on Pile's chest opens and fires multiple spike-like projectiles at his enemy. Spiral Gravity Driver – Cyan Pile's level 3 Special Move. This move can only be activated when pointing perpendicular to the ground. The metal spike within his Pile Driver retracts into it, and a metal drill more than twice as thick as the metal spike drills into the ground.The back of the Pile Driver emits flames like a rocket to cancel the recoil. When enhanced with Incarnation, the drill becomes corundum. Lightning Cyan Spike – Cyan Pile's Level 4 Special Move, which consumes 0.4 of his special gauge when activated. It is a heat- and piercing-type attack that converts the pile to a plasma then launches it. Incarnation Cyan Blade – This is a second-quadrant attack power expansion-type Incarnation Skill, obtained after training with Scarlet Rain. Cyan Pile shoots the pile out of his Pile Driver and catches it, then forms it into a sharp blade. Pile has become proficient with this technique to the point that he was chosen to be one of the 6 swordmen for the Silver Crow rescue mission. Pile managed to cut the Luminary Crown which has the physical immunity attribute. Lightning Dark Spike (formerly) – Likely an Incarnation-enhanced Special Move. It uses up the entire Special Gauge to fire an extremely fast bolt of negative Incarnation. Even Silver Crow could not see its trajectory. Kurasaki Fuuko's Personality Fuuko is shown to be very polite to others, even to people that she has just met. She is willing to help other people even if she gains nothing in return. Her eyes always depict a hidden sadness, as if always subconsciously regretting her separation from Kuroyukihime / Black Lotus. She whole-heartedly believes in the light side of the Incarnate System. In contrast to her usually polite demeanor, Fuuko is also described as sadistic, enjoying teasing her friends and even pushing them into dangerous situations. After Haruyuki recalled how Raker had pushed him off the Tokyo Tower without any warning, Kuroyukihime simply laughed and responded that was just like her. She is also known to have threatened and carried out tying her rivals to high places with a smile. Fuuko also has an obsessive infatuation with Utai, enjoying embracing the young girl and spouting nonsensical desires about her, to Utai's dismay. Conversely, in the Accelerated World, while she still cares deeply for her, Raker has no issue in taking Ardor Maiden and dropping her in the middle of a group of enemies in territory battles, to the point of Maiden being described as Sky Raker's personal equipment. Enhanced Armaments Gale Thruster – Sky Raker's Starter Armament, which is a jetpack. It can only be used for a limited amount of time as it has an internal gauge that depletes when it is active, but it is full when first equipped. While the Gale Thruster could only bring Sky Raker to a height of 100 meters at first, her upgrades eventually allowed it to reach 350 meters. The recharge time of the gauge can be greatly shortened through the use of movement-enhancing Incarnation. Unlike Silver Crow's wings, Gale Thruster can work well even in space stage. Unnamed wheelchair – A normal wheelchair with no special power. Fuuko can use incarnate to move the wheelchair easily. Abilities Penetrating Blows – This ability enhances her palm strikes to deadly levels. While her strikes seem soft as a mere touch, it causes the internals of a duel avatar to explode, as demonstrated with Shadow Cloaker. It is particularly useful when fighting opponents with strong defences. Incarnation Wind Veil – A 1st Quadrant, Second Stage Incarnate System ability used Sky Raker. It creates a barrier of wind with her in the middle, which shows it's use as a defensive Incarnate Attack. It takes on the appearance of a sky blue overflowing light that blows all around the user & her companions. Swirl Sway – An Incarnate ability used by Sky Raker. It creates a powerful, sideways tornado that erupts from her hands, which catches ranged attacks in its vortex. Although she mainly uses the ability to defend herself and her comrades, the ability also possesses great attack power, containing blades of wind in its tornado. In contrast to Wind Veil, which creates a "force field" spread around her in a circle, Swirl Sway can only be shot in one direction. However, the blast of wind generated is more concentrated and harbors more attack power than Wind Veil. Wind Bullet – An offensive Incarnate ability that shoots an immensely powerful bullet of wind. In contrast to Fuko's other Incarnate attacks, Wind Bullet stems from Negative Incarnation. Unnamed movement expansion technique – This Incarnate ability allows Sky Raker to move her wheelchair without using her hands. Her wheelchair can be accelerated so greatly that it leaves glowing red tire tracks on the ground. Kouzuki Yuniko's Personality When Haruyuki first meets Yuniko, she has the personality of a normal girl. She was sweet and caring to Haru. She presented good manners such as greeting him and was shown to be able to cook well. However, after Haruyuki discovered Yuniko's identity and that she was the current Red King, her personality changed radically, showing her true colors. She is rude and gets frustrated easily when things don't go her way. Yuniko has a rivalry between Kuroyukihime, and the two get on each other's nerves, but they also care for each other more than they let on. She also likes teases Kuroyukihime by getting close to Haruyuki what makes her jealous. In spite of her polite personality being a facade, Yuniko is also somewhat kinder than she realizes. While she claims that bonds between Burst Linkers are meaningless, Kuroyukihime points out that Yuniko still wants to believe in the "ultimate bond" between a "parent" and "child," which is why she hesitates to use Judgment Blow on Chrome Disaster. She also will sometimes help out Haruyuki and the others while claiming that it's only repaying a debt or for her own legion's interests. In battle, Yuniko appeared to be sadistic, enjoying to see her enemies being destroyed by her full barrage of heavy weapons. Background Yuniko is an elementary student and attends a private school. Her duel avatar is Scarlet Rain who is the current Red King following Red Rider. Her reasoning behind finding Haru was to ask for his help to stop the 5th Chrome Disaster which is currently one of Yuniko's legion members, Cherry Rook. Enhanced Armaments Scarlet Rain's Immobile Fortress Scarlet Rain's Invincible Peace Maker – Scarlet Rain's starter equipment. It is her primary weapon when the Invincible is inactive. It is a handheld blaster which fires a limited number of physical bullets. Its shots can be charged for a stronger attack, and she claims that it can open a hole in the ground given 20 seconds of charging. Invincible – The result of Scarlet Rain taking all of her level-up bonuses and pouring them into her firepower and range, the Invincible is a gigantic artillery platform with a large array of weapons and high defenses, earning her the nickname "Immobile Fortress". It is made from 5 Enhanced Armaments. Laser cannons (unnamed) – Typically referred to simply as "the Invincible's laser cannons", these are two laser cannons on the sides of the Invincible. They require 1 second to charge up, and cannot fire continuous beams. Missile racks (unnamed) Thruster blocks (unnamed) – While the Invincible gave Scarlet Rain the title "Immobile Fortress", it is not actually immobile. The Invincible's back-mounted rocket thrusters allows it to perform quick dashes. Cockpit (unnamed) Legs (unnamed) Dreadnought – Also using the 5 components above, the Invincible can be reconfigured into the Dreadnought with the voice command "Change: Dreadnought". The Dreadnought is a heavily-armed, twelve-wheeled truck almost 3 meters tall. In this mode, the Invincible's legs form the bottom of the truck, the gun blocks form the front, with the missile launchers behind them, and the rocket thrusters form the back. The laser cannons attach to the sides. Missile racks can open up on its roof Its firepower is not as high as the Invincible proper. It has speakers so Scarlet Rain can communicate with those on top. It also has no brakes. Abilities Vision Extension– This ability grants her information such as thermal maps and wind direction. If she concentrates hard enough, she can also scan other Burst Linkers to determine their information pressure. Hailstorm Domination – While equipping her huge armament 'Invincible', it'll fire off an entire fortress battalion of missiles all over the field with enough firepower to wipe out an army on the ground or any fliers in the air. Heat Blast Saturation – This Special Move utilizes the laser cannons of the Invincible, firing two lasers that merge and carry on as an enormous light beam. Once it hits a target, it expands into a ball of light, then explodes. Coronal Mass Ejection – A special move that involves firing a barrage of missiles while constantly firing 4 gatling guns and her laser cannons. This requires the Invincible. Judgement Blow – As the Legion Master of Prominence, Scarlet Rain is able to channel the Legion Master's ability to instantly uninstall Brain Burst from any of her legion members, given that she is within range. Incarnation Radiant Beat – Allows Scarlet Rain to form incarnate flames around her fist and launch them at her enemies as a fireball. This has a physical impact as well, acting like a punch. Radiant Burst – The multiple-shot version of Radiant Beat, released by punching with both hands repeatedly. Pyro Planing – The second of her Incarnate abilities, this allows Scarlet Rain to move at extreme speeds by melting the ground and skating upon it. Niko later reveals this incarnate ability is born from her fears of being close to others so that she can always run away. This ability also allows her to climb walls, albeit with not a very high success rate. Scarlet Exploder – This Incarnate skill fires a red bullet of light out of her Peace Maker. Red Rider's Background Rider along with the Kings of Pure Color attained level nine and decided to create a treaty that separates their territories and disallowed fighting amongst each other to obtain level ten. To further enhance it, he intended to make an offering of powerful guns to each Legion's King. Black Lotus killed red Rider due to the White King's interference, who got her hands on one of Red Rider's offering guns and demonstrated their power to Black Lotus, who thus proceeded to destroy Red Rider. However, when one of those guns were transferred to her inventory, she found out that the trigger was permanently locked. In other words, Red Rider's guns were simply an offering of peace. It is revealed that his dual gun emblem is emblazoned on the sealed item form of the ISS Kit. Currently, it is unknown what kind of connection Red Rider had with the Acceleration Research Society. Sometime before his death, Rider had fought a match with Graphite Edge. During the fight, Graphite Edge had deflected all of the bullets Rider shot back towards him, thus winning the fight. Abilities Arms Creation – This ability allows Red Rider to craft Enhanced Armaments and hand them out to other Burst Linkers. Typically, his creations are guns with high accuracy, which he distributed among members of Prominence. This ability is the reason for his redness – as Burst Linkers could travel anywhere and pull the trigger of his Enhanced Armaments, his range is in principle infinite. This ability carries an unknown price every time he creates an Enhanced Armament. Distance Safety – An ability that allows Red Rider to lock his creations at will using his emblem, rendering them useless. The emblem is made of two revolvers with their abnormally long barrels crossed. When activated, i.e. when the Enhanced Armament is locked, the revolvers on the emblem rotate so their barrels overlap. Auto Reload – This ability reloads Helios and Eos. When their bullets run out, the armor on his arms open up, and speedloaders attached to mechanical arms appear and reload them. This process, from raising his revolvers to flipping the chambers back into their proper position, takes only 2 seconds. Kakei Mihaya's Personality Mihaya does not often display her emotions, but possesses deep loyalty and trust in her Legion Master, Scarlet Rain. She is known to accomplish any task given to her in an efficient manner. Like her Parent Himi Akira, Mihaya talks in a minimalistic manner, using internet gaming abbreviations such as "NP" for "no problem", "K" for "okay", and "GG" for "good game". She asks Haruyuki to call her 'Leopard' or 'Pard' if he must shorten her name. Background When Mihaya was just a young child, her father was diagnosed with a terminal heart condition known as idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy. Mihaya loved her father dearly, and the news of this grave heart disease induced deep terror within her, gradually giving birth to a fear of the heart - as well as a fear of blood itself. A few years later, when she was just twelve years old, her father finally succumbed to the disease. Pushing her feelings deep down, she unemotionally proceeded through the funeral. The next morning, she sought out her aunt, named Himi Kaoru, who was the pâtissier of a renowned cake shop. Telling her aunt that opening a Western-style cake shop was her parents' dream, Mihaya convinced Kaoru to become the chief pâtissier of her late father's café, which was to be renovated into a new sweets shop. Agreeing to her request, Kaoru quit her original job and became the chief pâtissier of the newly renovated cake shop. When Kaoru first came to visit Mihaya's cake shop, she also brought along her daughter, named Akira Himi. That afternoon, Akira sat down with Mihaya on her father's red electric motorcycle, which was currently unused. Giving Mihaya the Brain Burst program, Akira, a.k.a. Aqua Current, became her "Parent". Taking her fear of the heart and blood, which had evolved as a result of her father's disease, the Brain Burst system created Mihaya duel avatar, naming it "Blood Leopard". When Mihaya first dove into the Accelerated World, she felt a powerful desire to simply run. Running through the fields of the "Primeval Forest" stage, she let loose all of the emotions she had been suppressing since her father's death, crying the tears that she had been holding in. Since Mihaya lived far away from Shibuya, the headquarters of Nega Nebulus, she instead joined Prominence. Through steady work, she managed to reach Level 4. The day after, she was asked to participate in the Territory Battle. That weekend, she dived into the Territory's stage for the first time. Their opponent was a team from Nega Nebulus, and Mihaya was asked to guard the back line. Suddenly, a sky-blue avatar carrying a small bow-wielding avatar shot through the clouds towards the Prominence troops. With incredible speed, the flying avatar reached the airspace above them in just an instant. Wielding the large bow, the small avatar being carried let loose a barrage of flaming arrows. Amazed at the flight speed of the sky-blue avatar, Mihaya wove through the flaming debris in chase of the Nega Nebulus legionnaires, and finally arrived at the top of the building on which the two had flown. Greeting her, the sky-blue avatar introduced herself as Sky Raker and the small red one as Ardor Maiden. Sky Raker then quickly dispatched the inexperienced Mihaya with a series of penetrating palm strikes. This first meeting kicked off a long rivalry between the two. A year after Mihaya became a Burst Linker, the Red King was assassinated by the Black King. In the "Warring States" period that followed, Mihaya joined the team of a newbie Burst Linker by the name of Scarlet Rain. Within only a year, this "newbie" rose to Level 9, taking the throne as the second Red King. In the newly formed Prominence, Mihaya became the leader of the Triplex, the executive group of the Red Legion, as well as the legion's sub-master. Abilities Blood Leopard's abilities revolve around her speed and power. Red avatars typically use ranged attacks, but she mostly uses her claws and teeth as a proficient close combat brawler. Shape Change – Blood Leopard can freely shift from human form to leopard form. In her human form, she has retractable claws, while in her leopard form, her claws are already out. Her leopard form also gives her a prehensile tail. Human Form Mental Bite – Blood Leopard bites her opponent and slowly absorbs the special attack gauge of her victim. Only usable in her Human form. Leopard Form Agility – As a passive ability, Blood Leopard's speed and maneuverability increase greatly when in her leopard form, allowing her to quickly close the gap to her opponents to deal high melee damage. Fall Protection – As a passive ability, Blood Leopard becomes immune to fall damage while in her Leopard form. This evidently transfers to those riding her as well. First Blood – First Blood, at the cost of her special-move gauge, allows Blood Leopard to surpass her normal speed limits and run at 200 kilometers per hour, making her the fastest unassisted runner in Brain Burst. Active Wall Running (unnamed) – An old active ability, Blood Leopard had the ability to run up walls, using up her special move gauge. Passive Wall Running (unnamed) – As her level 7 level-up bonus, Blood Leopard acquired the passive ability to run normally on any surface without using her special-move gauge. This ability allows her to freely navigate and attack in three dimensions at high speeds. Vital Bite – When biting an opponent, Blood Leopard can consume the victim's health gauge to use as her own at a 1:1 ratio. This "life-stealing" ability can only be used in her Leopard form. Bloodshed Cannon – Blood Leopard's level 5 special attack, and the one that earned her the title Bloody Kitty. She curls up while a glowing red cannon forms around her, then fires herself out as a projectile. If this hits a Duel Avatar, they will almost invariably die. However, if she misses and hits a structure or the ground, she will almost always die. Missing her target in stages with more fragile structures would allow her to survive while granting her SP, allowing her to chain many shots of Bloodshed Cannon together. Incarnation Unnamed incarnation technique – Blood Leopard forms long claws on her hands and sabertooth-like fangs from her mouth. Himi Akira's Personality Akira is shown not to reveal many of her emotions but is very straightforward when she speaks to other people. Because of her information-savvy nature, she is often regarded as Nega Nebulus' intelligence specialist. Background Not much information has been revealed about Akira, except that she is a bodyguard that helps level two or lower burst linkers in raising their points to a safe amount. However, in return, she records the Burst Linker's real world identity. Not long after her induction into the Accelerated World as Aqua Current, her Parent had their Brain Burst uninstalled, and their memory of it wiped. Therefore, she had to learn much about Brain Burst from someone else, that someone being Magnesium Drake. He taught her about how to use her abilities and techniques to use during battle, and they became good opponents. It is later revealed that Akira was originally a level-7 member of the element-themed executive group of Nega Nebulus known as "Elements". Akira represented the element of "Water". However, after the failed Nega Nebulus attack on the Imperial Palace, Akira sacrificed herself to save her comrades, ending up in Infinite EK at the altar of Seiryuu, the East of the Four Gods. As a byproduct, she fell prey to Seiryuu's Level Drain and had her level reduced to one. After this incident, she left the legion to become a bodyguard known as "The One", named after her level. When Akira was young, her mother, Himi Kaoru, agreed to Mihaya's offer to become the chief pâtissier of her recently deceased father's shop. Going with her mother, Akira visited Mihaya's renovated cake shop. There, she gave the girl the Brain Burst program, becoming her "parent". Since Mihaya lived far from Shibuya, the home territory of Akira's legion Nega Nebulus, Akira advised her to instead join the nearby Red Legion known as Prominence. After the failed Nega Nebulus attack on the Imperial Palace that had resulted in Akira being trapped in Infinite EK, she tried to erase Mihaya's memory of herself. Abilities Achromaticity (unnamed) – An ability that allows Aqua Current to freely change the state and attributes of her armor to match the stage. It is this ability that earned her the title "Aquamatic", a portmanteau of "aqua" and "achromatic". Unnamed ice form – This form allows her to create ice weapons and armor, such as ice javelins, giving her ranged attacks. It can be used in the Ice stage. Unnamed steam form – This form allows her to perform area attacks with her high-temperature steam. It can be used in the Volcano stage. Water Armor (unnamed) – An ability that makes Aqua Current's armor a liquid. It can flow and change shape, allowing it to wrap around other duel avatars. She can also fire water jets, using up part of her armor in the process. Her water allows her to slide along the ground quickly. She can also replenish her water armor, but this takes time as it must be purified. Unnamed wall-climbing ability – This ability allows Aqua Current to travel along walls. It is quite versatile, as it allows her to stick to any solid surface, including other duel avatars. Theoretically Pure Water (unnamed) – An ability that makes Aqua Current's water armor pure water. This makes it a very good insulator. It is also practically transparent, which allows her to deflect light-based attacks by refraction. Hydro Auditory – An ability that allows Aqua Current to use part of her armor to convert a body of water into her ears. This ability is powerful enough to allow her to listen in on the entire Sewer stage with 2 to 3 liters of water, or about 1/10 of her armor. It has a time limit. Incarnation Aqua Current Ice Form Aqua Current while Phase Trans – Keen is active Maelstrom – An incarnate ability similar to Sky Raker's Swirl Sway. It causes a horizontal whirlpool to form from her hands, and catches ranged attacks in its vortex. She is conspicuously smaller in this mode due to some of her water forming long razor-like katars on her hands. However, rather than abort the pregnancy, Fuuko's parents ultimately decided to give her the chance to be born. Fuuko was thus born without legs around her knees, and at infancy was granted a Neurolinker to monitor her health. While she would later receive biocompatible prosthetic legs, Fuuko grew up quietly questioning and resenting her parents for allowing her to be born as she was. During her early elementary school years, Fuuko happened across a science-fiction novel featuring children genetically engineered with arms instead of legs to survive in a weightless environment, and while she struggled with the advanced reading, Fuuko felt a kinship with the characters. Halfway through reading it, the book was taken off her by a librarian, and as the novel was removed from the library, Fuuko pleaded with her parents to buy a digital version, only to learn that there wasn't one. While Fuuko would eventually forget about the book and its title, she subconsciously developed a desire to visit a weightless world like the one she had read about. When Fuuko later received the Brain Burst program, her subconscious wish was given manifestation through her Duel Avatar Sky Raker and its accompanying Enhanced Armament, Gale Thruster. However, having forgotten about the novel that had birthed her deepest desire, Fuuko failed to realise that her Duel Avatar was born to fly through space, instead believing that her desire was to reach high into the sky through the use of her jet pack-type Enhanced Armament. Sky Raker thus spent much of her level-up bonuses increasing the reach of her highest jump and short-distance "flights", earning her the reputation of being the closest of any in the Accelerated World to being able to fly. Sky Raker later met and befriended Black Lotus, joining her legion, Nega Nebulus, though the nature of their first meeting was apparently embarrassing enough that Lotus would threaten to use the Judgement Blow on her if she shared the details of it. Sky Raker soon became the legion's deputy, and the leader of the high-ranking members of the legion's "Elements", becoming the Air Element of the group. As the legion's deputy, Raker ended up coming into conflict with many of the other legions' deputies, such as Cobalt Blade, Manganese Blade, Iron Pound and Aster Vine, usually defeating and humiliating them. Sky Raker developed a fondness for her fellow Element Ardor Maiden, and often used her in a combination attack during the territories in which she would fly up to enemy strongholds and drop Maiden in amongst the enemy Burst Linkers, a tactic that earned her the nickname ICBM. During one such manoeuvre in a battle against the Red Legion Prominence, Sky Raker met Blood Leopard, admiring her form and speed before soundly defeating her. Following this encounter, Raker and Leopard developed a rivalry with one another, battling on many occasions. Under unknown circumstances, Fuuko ended up meeting Black Lotus and Ardor Maiden in the real world despite the taboo of knowing another Burst Linker's identity, learning their real identities of Kuroyukihime and Utai Shinomiya. While Fuuko and Kuroyukihime's friendship grew as a result, Fuuko's fondness for Utai became borderline obsessive when she learned of her young age and cuteness, being overbearing with affection whenever they met. In spite of all that she had accomplished with her Enhanced Armament, Sky Raker continued to feel a compulsion to reach higher into the sky, developing an unhealthy obsession in attaining true flight. Eventually, Raker decided that she would lighten her Avatar by permanently cutting off her legs. After obtaining a wheelchair from the Shop, Raker repeatedly pleaded with Lotus to cut her legs off, and Lotus eventually gave in to the request. As she bisected Raker's legs, Lotus ended up using Incarnate, implementing her feelings of sadness and anger into the blow, which indeed ended up permanently removing Raker's legs. Both Raker and Lotus would later come to believe that it was because of their own feelings at the time that Raker's legs were never able to regenerate. Despite her wish being granted, Raker found that she was no closer to being able to fly than she had been before, instead achieving a maximum height of 300 meters with Gale Thruster. Despite the rift that had formed between them as a result of pressuring Lotus into removing her legs, Sky Raker continued to serve Nega Nebulus as its deputy until Lotus defied the other Kings of Pure Colors' wish to maintain a non-aggression treaty to avoid the sudden-death penalty thrust upon the level 9 Kings, beheading Red Rider. Though Lotus was now a fugitive and proposed disbanding the Legion, Raker and the others protested, instead suggesting an assault on the Imperial Palace in the hopes of unlocking an alternative way of clearing Brain Burst. Raker and Lotus co-led an attack on the God-class Enemy guarding the West gate to the palace, Byakko, however they were completely outmatched, and while the other Elements would become trapped in an Unlimited Enemy Kill ensuring their comrades' escape, Raker and Lotus avoided this fate. With Nega Nebulus thoroughly defeated, Lotus officially disbanded the legion. Soon after, Fuuko lost touch with Kuroyukihime and Utai in the real world as well as the Accelerated. Having no desire to join another legion, Raker decided to retire from dueling and instead spent most of her time in the Unlimited Neutral Field living in a home she purchased that was situated atop the old Tokyo Tower. Rather than physically make her way to the Tower every time she dove into the Field, Fuuko decided to circumvent the need to use a leave portal and set up a timed network disconnection in order to ensure that she would always return to her home upon accelerating. Nearly two years after the disbanding of Nega Nebulus, at a time while she was still attending junior high school, Fuuko was in the Shibuya hospital as a patient when Rin Kusakabe accidentally spilled iced water on her lap. Fuuko was not mad at the younger girl, instead feeling as though she knew Rin was destined to become a fellow Burst Linker. After forming a friendship with Rin, Fuuko eventually offered her the Brain Burst program, which Rin received on her comatose brother Rinta's Neurolinker. While Rin's Duel Avatar, Ash Roller, was unexpectedly manifested primarily out of Rinta's personality rather than Rin, Raker proceeded to teach her child the ways of the Accelerated World, including the basics of the Incarnate System, before Ash set out to take part in duels and join the Green Legion Great Wall. Eventually, Raker heard of Lotus's own child, Silver Crow, who had emerged as the only avatar capable of true flight thanks to wings on his back, and while she was intrigued enough to want to meet him, Raker made no move to do so. Enhanced Armaments Gale Thruster – Sky Raker's Starter Armament, which is a jetpack. It can only be used for a limited amount of time as it has an internal gauge that depletes when it is active, but it is full when first equipped. While the Gale Thruster could only bring Sky Raker to a height of 100 meters at first, her upgrades eventually allowed it to reach 350 meters. The recharge time of the gauge can be greatly shortened through the use of movement-enhancing Incarnation. Unlike Silver Crow's wings, Gale Thruster can work well even in space stage. Unnamed wheelchair – A normal wheelchair with no special power. Fuuko can use incarnate to move the wheelchair easily. Abilities Penetrating Blows – This ability enhances her palm strikes to deadly levels. While her strikes seem soft as a mere touch, it causes the internals of a duel avatar to explode, as demonstrated with Shadow Cloaker. It is particularly useful when fighting opponents with strong defences. Incarnation Wind Veil – A 1st Quadrant, Second Stage Incarnate System ability used Sky Raker. It creates a barrier of wind with her in the middle, which shows it's use as a defensive Incarnate Attack. It takes on the appearance of a sky blue overflowing light that blows all around the user & her companions. Swirl Sway – An Incarnate ability used by Sky Raker. It creates a powerful, sideways tornado that erupts from her hands, which catches ranged attacks in its vortex. Although she mainly uses the ability to defend herself and her comrades, the ability also possesses great attack power, containing blades of wind in its tornado. In contrast to Wind Veil, which creates a "force field" spread around her in a circle, Swirl Sway can only be shot in one direction. However, the blast of wind generated is more concentrated and harbors more attack power than Wind Veil. Wind Bullet – An offensive Incarnate ability that shoots an immensely powerful bullet of wind. In contrast to Fuko's other Incarnate attacks, Wind Bullet stems from Negative Incarnation. Unnamed movement expansion technique – This Incarnate ability allows Sky Raker to move her wheelchair without using her hands. Her wheelchair can be accelerated so greatly that it leaves glowing red tire tracks on the ground. Metatron's Personality Befitting her name of "Archangel", Metatron has a very proper way of speaking and behaving. With the persona of a high-class lady, she declares Haruyuki as "insolent" when he tries to touch her. In her icon form, Metatron frequently whaps him with her miniature wings as a form of banter. However, underneath her shell, Metatron is very kind. During the ISS Kit Arc, she voluntarily tried to sacrifice herself to protect the legionnaires of Nega Nebulus and Prominence from the Disaster Mark II. Furthermore, during the joint-operation to rescue Silver Crow from the Apocalypse God Tezcatlipoca, Metatron volunteered to be a carrier, an attacker, and the escape route all at once. Background She was once the guardian of the Luminary, one of the Seven Arcs located in the Contrary Cathedral in the Unlimited Field. After White Cosmos obtained it, she lured Metatron away and used its ability to control her. She became a guard for the Acceleration Research Society's main headquarters. After being released from the Luminary by Silver Crow, she is now partnered with him to find out her purpose by investigating the Imperial Palace. Contrary Cathedral The Contrary Cathedral is located below Shiba Park. It is a giant maze with tiles that can flip the stage within from Heaven to Hell, or vice versa. Its boss room contains one such tile. Abilities Trisagion – Metatron's signature move, and the reason she was used to guard Tokyo Midtown Tower. In her first form, it is an extremely powerful laser that can fire constantly as long as her wings can absorb solar energy. Even Green Grandé can only withstand 5 seconds of the attack. This special move becomes even more devastating in her true form. When she activates the ability, a pillar of light spears down from the heavens, killing everything within seconds and heating the ground until it is red-hot. Ektenia – In her first form, Metatron has 12 tapestry-like feathers on each of her 4 wings for a total of 48 feathers. They glow blue, then fire towards their targets at an extremely high speed. Each feather is a meter wide and paper-thin, cutting through armor very easily. After the attack, the feathers return to her wings. When used by Silver Crow, the attack launches one of his wings at a controllable trajectory at a very high speed. This attack is very versatile, as it is possible to launch another wing directly after launching it once. It is also very powerful, shattering the Luminary's crowns in one hit. Unnamed bullet attack – In her first form, many tiny holes can open up on her head, and fire out drill bullets. The white shell-like bullets drill into a target's armor. It cannot reach underneath her head, however. Unnamed lightning attack – In her first form, the rings making up her torso can start spinning and generating purple electricity within. The electricity will then be emitted in a horizontal area around her. Dominion – Being a Legend-class enemy, Metatron has some control over other enemies in the accelerated world. Inside her dungeon she can give orders to any enemy, outside of her dungeon she can only control a wild-class or below, and in another's dungeon she has no control. Invisibility – Metatron is invisible in her regular state. Invulnerability – Metatron cannot be damaged with attacks of any attribute in stages other than Hell. The attacks will simply pass through her. Highest Level – Metatron can freely navigate the Highest Level. Third Stage Incarnation – As a Saint who has free access to the Highest Level, Metatron wields Third Stage Incarnation. Legions: Nega Nebulus (ネガ・ネビュラス, Nega Nebyurasu) is the Black Legion, under the leadership of Black Lotus. The main goal of the Legion is to defeat the six other Kings and reach level 10 to meet the developer of Brain Burst. History Nega Nebulus was one of the seven Legions that were led by a level nine Burst Linker, commonly referred to as a King. However, after Black Lotus killed the Red King, Red Rider, she took the rest of the legion on an attack on the Imperial Palace. She split her forces into four groups to attack each of the Four Gods simultaneously, but Nega Nebulus was defeated on all fronts. This led to the disbanding of the Legion, and Black Lotus went into hiding. Two years later, though, Black Lotus revived Nega Nebulus with just three members – herself, Silver Crow, and Cyan Pile, and aim for the "end" of the Accelerated World. While starting out small, over time, the legion's power steadily increased as more and more former elite members rejoined. Recently, Nega Nebulus has been adding members and even absorbing a smaller legion, Petit Paquet. After that, Nega Nebulus is merged with Prominence, after both kings agreed and sealed with a handshake. The current lastest joining member is Centaurea Sentry. However, soon after that, Silver Crow and Metatron left the legion and switched to Oscillatory Universe. Territory Before its dissolution, Nega Nebulus held Shibuya. After its revival, its home is in the Suginami ward, where it controls all three Combat Areas in the ward itself. To the north is Prominence, and to the east are Leonids and Great Wall. After merging with Prominence it can be assumed that all its territories belong to "Nega Prominence" now. On July, 20th 2047, Nega Nebulus attacked Oscillatory Universe's Minato 3 territory and succeeded. Oscillatory Universe (オシラトリ・ユニヴァース· Oshiratori Yunivaasu) is a great Legion also known as the White Legion. It is led by the White King, White Cosmos. Their territory is located in the Minato area. The central base is located at Aeterna Girl's Academy. History In Volume 18, it was revealed that the White Legion attempted to seize Shibuya from the first generation Nega Nebulus after the legion collapsed. However, before they managed to do so, Shibuya was transferred to Great Wall instead through an agreement between the Green and Black Kings, thus thwarting their plans. In Volume 21, Shadow Lurker revealed that the Acceleration Research Society was part of Oscillatory Universe; all members in the legion knew about the Society's actions and cooperated willingly. However, only the members within the Research Circle had a BIC implanted in their brains. In Volume 22, the connection between the White Legion and the Acceleration Research Society was brought to light at the 4th Summit of the Kings when the White King's proxy, Ivory Tower, was revealed to be Black Vise, the vice president of the Acceleration Research Society. In response, the Society attempted to attack the Kings. Having Wolfram Cerberus (now Wolfram Disaster) transport them to the Unlimited Neutral Field with Orchid Oracle's Paradigm Breakdown, Black Vise then trapped the Kings within his Third Stage Incarnate ability Icosahedral Insulation. Then, Platinum Cavalier, the first of the Seven Dwarves, dropped the Luminary-enslaved Sun God Inti onto the trapped Kings, forcing them into Unlimited Enemy Kill. Territory Oscillatory Universe controls the Minato area. In the past, all 3 combat areas of the ward belong to them. However, On July, 20th 2047, Nega Nebulus attacked Oscillatory Universe's Minato 3 territory and succeeded. Prominence (プロミネンス, Purominensu), also known as the Red Legion, was a Legion founded by the first Red King, Red Rider, and formerly led by the second Red King, Scarlet Rain. The entire Legion was recently disbanded, with all active members being absorbed into the Black Legion, Nega Nebulus. History Prominence is one of the seven Legions led by a level nine Burst Linker – one of the pure-colored Kings. It was formerly led by the first Red King, Red Rider. However, after his death by Black Lotus, the second Red King, Scarlet Rain took over Prominence after an extended period of warfare. Prominence was also involved in the elimination of the fifth Chrome Disaster because of one of its members, Cherry Rook, acting as its host body. Scarlet Rain worked with the members of Nega Nebulus to take it down, even prevailing through an ambush set up by Crypt Cosmic Circus. In Vol. 19, the legion disbanded, and all of the members will be absorbed into Nega Nebulus. It was agreed between the two kings, However, it not yet officially announced. Description Among the major Legions, Prominence is the smallest regarding the number of members. This could be due to the "warring states"-style period after Red Rider's death; many Burst Linkers left when Scarlet Rain finally assumed command. However, this also means that the current members are a tight-knit group. Prominence has three high-ranked members, known as the Triplex. Blood Leopard, as the Legion's submaster, is also one of these three. Prominence encourages the viewpoint of "specialization over versatility" concerning Duel Avatar builds, much like Nega Nebulus. Prominence's territory extends to all Combat Areas in the Nerima prefecture, as well as the Northern Area in the Nakano prefecture. The Accelerated World is the world created by a series of four games made by an anonymous developer. The games released so far are Accel Assault 2038 (AA), Brain Burst 2039 (BB), Cosmos Corrupt 2040 (CC), and Dread Drive 2047 (DD). Technical Functioning The Accelerated World is a virtual world that is truly one of a kind. Unlike any other program of the late 2040s, the Accel World runs on unique technology: Soul Translator Technology, which was supposedly lost during the late 2020s. Soul Translator Technology Abbreviated as STL technology, this mysterious technology taps directly into the Fluctlight of an individual, which is a collection of trapped photons stored within the microtubules of neurons. For all intents and purposes, the Fluctlight is an individual’s soul, hence the name “Soul Translator Technology”. Unbeknownst to almost all Japanese residents, the Neuro Linker runs on STL technology. Fluctlight Acceleration, Accelerated One of the key features of Soul Translator Technology is the concept of “Fluctlight Acceleration”, also known as FLA. By accelerating the functioning of a Fluctlight, the consciousness of the user can be accelerated by almost an infinite amount. The amount the Fluctlight is accelerated is called the “FLA Rate”. Using Fluctlight Acceleration, the Accelerated World normally runs under an FLA Rate of one-thousand, hence the name “Accelerated” world. All activities in any of the games run under this accelerated form of time. In other words, the residents of the Accelerated World regularly experience time one thousand times slower than usual. Lightcube Cluster When an individual first installs one of the games of the Accelerated World, a bizarre phenomenon occurs during the night of the installation. While the individual is asleep, the program copies the Fluctlight of the soon-to-be Linker, creating an Artificial Fluctlight copy. The copy is then stored inside a Lightcube, a cube shaped contraption that is capable of storing a Fluctlight, in the Accel World’s Lightcube Cluster. Whenever the individual accelerates, they don’t actually use their physical brains or personal Fluctlights to play the game. Instead, they navigate the Accelerated World using their Fluctlight copy stored in a Lightcube. Using this method, problems relating to the exhaustion of a soul’s natural lifespan can be circumvented. Once a Linker finishes their dive into the virtual world, the memory between the copy and their real Fluctlight is synchronized, allowing them to remember the events of the Accelerated World even while in the real one. However, even when a Linker loses all of their points – and thus the privilege of entering the Accelerated World – their Fluctlight copy remains within the Lightcube Cluster. Exploiting this characteristic, some Linkers have been revived by reconnecting the copy with their real Fluctlights. Main Visualizer Another key feature of the Accelerated World is the use of the Main Visualizer, which controls all events that happen in the virtual world. The Main Visualizer basically acts as a “bridge” between a Linker’s Fluctlight and the Accelerated World. Unlike the other games of the era, the Main Visualizer feeds information to the players not through pixels, but through memory information. Using this technique, the world created by the Main Visualizer is incredibly realistic. The Main Visualizer also reads the “imagination” of the Linker’s Fluctlights, processing them into physical phenomena in the Accelerated World. Thought to be originally intended to be used only as a movement support, this “image control system” allows players to control their avatars through their imagination. Exploiting this function, the Incarnate System was formed. Besides reading the “imaginations” of the players to allow better avatar control, the Main Visualizer also uses the imagination data to create future prediction. Within high-speed battles, the system is unable to process visual information fast enough to keep up with the movements of the battle. Thus, the Main Visualizer reads the thoughts of the Linkers, creating a prediction of the future. In other words, what players see is not what is actually there, but simply a prediction produced by the system. This future prediction system is amazingly accurate, effectively allowing players to flawlessly view their surroundings. However, some players have found ways to exploit this system, notably Centaurea Sentry with her Omega Style. A Neuro Linker (ニューロリンカー, Nyūro Rinkā) is a collar like personal computer that can communicate wirelessly with the user's brain. It has two functions: "Virtual Reality" and "Augmented Reality". Functions Virtual reality is more of an own created world, a network that everyone can use. Virtual reality will transport the users avatar in a local network where they can play many simulated games or to have a talk with other virtual avatars. Augmented Reality is more of a specter reality, as example the "Brain Burst" game. The MMORPG elements that takes place in the real world but doesn't cause any damage in real world when they are fighting. Once activated with the Neuro Linker, it will take you to different places that are located in each district or prefecture in reality. Direct Wired Connection It is a very personal method of synchronization that is done by cable. If the wire is plugged in the Neuro Linker, then the two in who they are plugged in, can talk in secret. It is mostly used by lovers. Brain Burst 2039 Officially Brain Burst 2039 (ブレインバースト2039, Burein Bāsuto 2039(Nī Zero San Kyū)), also known by its filename, BB2039.exe, Brain Burst is a secret application which allows a person to make time seemingly stop by "accelerating" their brainwaves. The creator of the Brain Burst program is still unknown, but it is widely believed by many Burst Linkers that once a player reaches level 10, they will be introduced to the creator and will learn all the secrets about the Brain Burst program. Install Brain Burst In order to install Brain Burst, the person needs to be invited by another Burst Linker and be sent an invitation through their Neuro Linker. Each Burst Linker can only invite one other person to the game, and if the installation fails, they cannot invite another person.[note 1] There are some specific conditions for the installation to be completed successfully, which are having the Neuro Linker on starting shortly after birth, and certain brain speed reaction. If all of the conditions are not met, then the installation fails. The Burst Linker who invited the person becomes their guardian and usually has a close connection with them. Burst Points The times a person can accelerate are limited and depend on the number of Burst Points they have. When Brain Burst is installed, the player, known as a Burst Linker, starts with a total of 100 Burst Points (BP). Each time the Burst Linker accelerates, they lose 1 Burst Point. There are also other abilities that can be used in the real world, such as Physical Burst, which also use up Burst Points. Once a Burst Linker reaches enough points, they can choose to level up their avatar. This consumes a number of points that varies with each level. Burst Points are mainly earned by fighting and defeating other Burst Linkers in the program’s online multiplayer fighting game, but can also been earned by defeating Enemies in the Unlimited Neutral Field, a space that only players of level 4 or above can access. Brain Burst Matches Brain Burst Match In order to connect to the online multiplayer fighting game of Brain Burst, the person has to be connected to a network via their Neuro Linker. After connecting, they are automatically added to the matchmaking list of the network where they were connected to, where other Burst Linkers also appear on it if they are in the vicinity. Burst Linkers can then challenge others by choosing their name on the list. The fights there can be either between individuals or between pairs and teams. One may also choose to spectate matches. While normally spectators cannot enter a 10-meter radius of the combatants, this is disabled by default for Parents and Children, and there is an option to turn it off entirely. Players may also choose to challenge a spectator after a battle. This does not offer any benefits, however, as it also requires the challenger to use up 1 BP. Each Duel Avatar has an energy gauge that is lowered when receiving damage and is represented in blue. The special gauge that is used for special moves, which is filled when receiving damage or delivering damage or damaging field objects, is represented in green. Each battle has a time limit of 1800 seconds unless they are in the Unlimited Neutral Field. The goal is to decrease your opponent's energy gauge down to zero to win the match. If time runs out, whichever of the two combatants has the higher health points is declared the winner. If the two Burst Linkers are at the same level, the loser loses 10 points and the winner gains 10 points. Uninstallation of Brain Burst Brain Burst will be uninstalled when any of the following conditions are fulfilled: When one's burst points were depleted to zero under any conditions. When one manually uninstalls the program from their Neuro Linker. When Judgement Blow is used on a Burst Linker by their Legion Master. Any linker that is not in a Legion cannot be ousted this way as they do not have any Legion Master (however, the Judgement Blow is still effective for one month after a member leaves their respective Legion). When Brain Burst is uninstalled, the person's memories pertaining to it are completely erased. In addition, Brain Burst cannot be reinstalled once uninstalled as Brain Burst recognizes players by their brain waves, not by their Neuro Linker. Enemies (a term coined by players), or Beings (as self-referred to by some), are powerful non-player characters, typically wandering around in the Unlimited Neutral Field. They can take on various forms. With some exceptions, they take the form of modified animals. When defeated, they give Burst Points, and very rarely, Enhanced Armaments. While they give very small amounts of BP, they are one of the few sources of BP outside duels, and their ease of access led to Enemy hunts becoming one of the major sources of BP in Brain Burst. Classification Enemies are typically classified by players into four main classes. However, it should be noted that there are Enemies who do not fit into the four classes. Lesser-class Enemies are the weakest Enemies. However, they are about as powerful as a level 7 Duel Avatar. As such, one-on-one battles with Lesser-class Enemies are often used as a trial for Burst Linkers to prove their seniority. Wild-class Enemies are are typically around 5 meters in size, and are the typical target for Enemy hunts. However, even experienced Burst Linkers would find it hard to defeat Wild-class Enemies solo, especially since they often cluster together, and one may find themselves facing multiple. Beast-class Enemies are typically around 7 to 8 meters in size, and can be found along bullet train tracks. It is possible for around 20 Burst Linkers to defeat one, but this requires a high degree of coordination. Green Grandé hunts this type of Enemy for Burst Points to sustain the Accelerated World. Legend-class Enemies are typicaly found in the centers of mazes or other famous landmarks, and require dozens of highly-experienced Burst Linkers to defeat. Even then, one small mistake could cause the deaths of the entire contingent. It is said that only one who has defeated a Legend-class Enemy alone is Blue Knight, thus earning him the title "Legend Slayer". Four Legend-Class Enemies, those guarding the dungeons housing four of the Seven Arcs, have been named the Four Saints, and all four presumably have a beast-like first form and a human-like true form. Other classes of Enemies include Devil-class Enemies, which only appear in the Hell stage and take the form of huge demons and other monstrosities. They are as powerful as Legend-class Enemies. Super-class Enemies, also known as the Four Gods, are powerful Enemies even stronger than Legend-class Enemies, and guard the four bridges leading into the Imperial Palace. They are highly connected, and while inactive, can heal any active member, making it necessary to attack all four of them at once to defeat them and access the interior of the Palace. They take inspiration from the Four Gods of East Asian mythologies. The Unlimited Neutral Field is an environment a Burst Linker can enter by using the "Unlimited Burst" command. In order to enter the field, the Burst Linker must be at least level 4, and executing the command costs ten Burst Points. Description The Unlimited Neutral Field is a zone encompassing the entire Accelerated World, but unlike the normal duel environment, it has no requirements on what to do when there. Burst Linkers are free to fight others, or NPCs known as Enemies, as they so desire. Like the normal duel environment, the entirety of the world is based on the real world as it is seen through the Social Camera Network, "skinned" with a semi-random Stage. The process of the Stage changing is known as a Transition. During a Transition, the environment is completely reset, and any Enemies that were destroyed are reborn. All across the world there are places known as Leave Points, or Portals, that allow a Burst Linker to exit from the Unlimited Neutral Field. There is no other way to leave, besides physically removing a cable from a proxy server connected to the Global Net. These Portals are indestructible objects, and cannot be moved at all. While in the Unlimited Neutral Field, Burst Linkers will feel the full amount of pain from their actions, rather than only half of it like they do in normal Duels. Metatron's second form refers to the Unlimited Neutral Field as the Mean Level, while she and Silver Crow are on the Highest Level. Earlier, she had referred to the Normal Duel Field as the Low level and the real world as the Lowest level. Enemies Various kinds of enemies can be found all across the world. The most important of these are the Four Great Dungeons. To clear each of these requires a large party and a lot of combat experience. The last boss of the four dungeons are referred to as the Four Divinities, and the first to win has the privilege of acquiring one of the Seven Arcs. Shinjuku Metropolitan Building Dungeon (The Impulse) Tokyo Station Underground Dungeon (The Tempest) Tokyo Dome Dungeon (The Strife) Great Shiba Park Labyrinth (The Luminary) There is also the Ikebukuro Underground Dungeon, which appears to specialize in the distribution of Quests, such as the Legion Quest required to create a new Legion. Imperial Palace, The Imperial Palace, also called the Castle, sits in the middle of the Tokyo metropolitan area, in the Chiyoda region, and is considered to be a dungeon. However, only a select few Burst Linkers have ever made it inside - and those due to coincidences or freak occurrences - because of the castle's four guardians, the Four Gods: Suzaku, Byakko, Genbu, and Seiryuu. Each of these Enemies guards one of the Castle's four gates, and represent the four compass directions.
