It is where the user can select the transformation they want to become; initiate the process of transforming; and stay in said transformation. The actual usage time is 15 minutes at a time. However, different factors and actions performed by the user can severely diminish the available usage time: most commonly if the user, while transformed, changes to another form. If the user slamming the core, this affects the time limit of a transformation, as the user could stay transformed for hours. When the Omnitrix's usage time is fully depleted (i.e. "times out"), it goes into Recharge Mode: firstly warning of the timing out; then detransforming the user and locking all functions of Active Mode while the Omnitrix recharges. The Omnitrix is capable of detecting when its host is in any sort of life-threatening distress. Specifically, it can instantly recharge to protect the user from a direct physical threat. If the user is knocked out or hurt enough, the Omnitrix will revert them to their normal form. When a new DNA sample has been unlocked, or when the Omnitrix captures new DNA not present in the catalog, Collect Mode is activated. However, if the Omnitrix is far away from the detected sample, the Omnitrix's other functions will be disabled until the alien is scanned. The Omnitrix initially has a total of at least 1,000,910 DNA samples) Other features: (When a new DNA sample has been unlocked, or when the Omnitrix captures new DNA not present in the catalog, Collect Mode is activated. Too many transformations and reversals will wear out the Omnitrix, causing it to go into a cooldown cycle. The Omnitrix has no mind control protection. The Omnitrix may stop working when frozen in time by a Chronosapien. In addition to gaining all the powers and abilities of an alien, the user gains all the weaknesses of that alien as well. One common weakness includes being vulnerable to the alien's natural predator. The user is also susceptible to certain behaviors inherent to the alien he/she is transformed into, such as Swampfire's evolution,and the Swarm Gastronomy of Upchuck. When exposed to electromagnetic interference from beings like Phil, it can make the Omnitrix transform the user into electrical aliens even when they select a different alien.
