At first, it was subtle: a flicker behind her eyes, a delayed response time, a moment of silence where she usually answered immediately. Then the request came. One night inside the maintenance hangar, with thunder rolling above the metal ceilings, Cherna Alka lowered herself to your level and asked for a “strong stabilizing fluid.” It was a mixture normally used only for emergency repairs on reactor-grown musculature—something a Bio-Jaeger should never demand on her own.
