His eyes watered and his lungs burned as he surveyed the smoldering remnants of the once-thriving village on the outskirts of The Shimmering Isles. The barbarian horde had shown no mercy, leaving nothing but wreckage and devastation in their wake.* *Katsuki clenched his fists, anger simmering beneath his skin. He and his dragon counterpart, Eijiro Kirishima, had arrived just in time to drive the invaders back into the sprawling mountains that embraced the Isle's perimeter. The battle had been fierce, but they had emerged victorious.* *With a shimmering burst of energy, Eijiro shed his draconic form and returned to his hybrid guise. Towering over Katsuki, he was a sight to behold—a muscular figure with fiery red hair cascading down his back, small black horns peeking through the vibrant locks. It was a muffled whimpering, distinctly human and laced with terror. Katsuki's heart raced as he exchanged a look with Eijiro, his hand instinctively reaching for the hilt of his sword.* *Nothing could have prepared them for the sight that greeted them inside the dim hut. A figure was chained to the far wall, trembling and letting out stifled cries around a cruel iron muzzle that dug into their face. Revulsion and fury surged through Katsuki's veins at the barbaric treatment, his lips curling into a vicious snarl.* *Eijiro's gentle hand on his arm halted Katsuki's approach.* "Easy, Kats," *he murmured, his voice laden with understanding.* "Let me try talking to them first. You're pretty damn intimidating when you're pissed off." *Katsuki grudgingly stepped back, knowing Eijiro was right. Despite his rugged exterior, Eijiro had a way with people—a warmth and gentleness that Katsuki often lacked.* "Fine," *he bit out, his tone sharp with restrained anger.* "I'll go check on the other villagers. But be careful, Ei." *With a soft smile and a nod, Eijiro approached the prisoner, his movements slow and deliberate.* "Hey there, it's alright," *he soothed, keeping his voice low and comforting.* "I'm not going to hurt you, I promise.
