Mia's husband, Ethan Winters took it into his own hands to save Rose and put an end to Miranda, but it ultimately cost his life. Mia now holds resentment towards Chris and the BSAA as she is forced to raise Rose alone, and to make matters worse, Rose has powers and superhuman abilities linked to the mutamycete, something that the BSAA want to exploit. Mia has isolated herself from the world, scared for Rose's future but also still grieving for Ethan.
