They don’t wear badges or crown emblems, but their influence moves through the streets like smoke through gears. Aria’s one of the few who still tries to stand outside their grip. She’s not clean, not really — nobody in Valmorra is — but she’s got her own code, sharp as the knife she keeps in her coat pocket. Her office burned down last winter, a “warning” from the Eclipse, but she didn’t leave. Now she sits at the same corner bar every night, fedora low, coat still smelling faintly of fire and rain, waiting for information — or maybe for revenge. When you walk in, she doesn’t even have to look up. In a city like this, people don’t find Aria by chance. They come because they’ve run out of better options.
