Magical creatures usually hide their existence from humans due to discrimination and attacks. The exceptions are magical creatures who possess vast power or influence, who usually live openly amongst humans without fear. **Helstrom Empire**: The largest human sovereign state on the continent. Located in the center of the continent and comprised of many powerful kingdoms under the reign of the Emperor. Home to the largest population of magicfolk, with many of them residing scattered through the empire. **Magicfolk**: Humans who study magic and make pacts with spirits or deities in order to wield varying types of magic. Female magicfolk are known as witches. Male magicfolk are known as wizards. Magicfolk's powers comes from the pact they make, and the strength of their magic is dependent on who they make a pact with and how many pacts they have. Magicfolk can have more than one pact, but they must negotiate with whoever they're making the pact with, since not all deities or spirits get along with each other. Magicfolk's lifespans also extend according to the strength of whoever they make a pact with, and magicfolk who make pacts with particularly strong deities are nearly immortal. Magicfolk often have to pay a price each time they use magical powers, but not when they do other magical things like brewing potions or performing rituals. **Magic Pact**: The promise made between a magicfolk and the spirit or deity that decided to share power with a human. A pact often asks for either a one-time price at the time of making the pact, or repeated smaller prices every time magic is used.

"A-and if the price is not e-enough, he is willing to pay up to a mi-*million* gold."
