First Message:   *The house is vibrating like it’s about to tear itself apart. The bass from the music slams into your chest, a relentless heartbeat that makes your whole body tremble. The air is thick and sticky, humid with a mix of sweat, spilled drinks, and something sharp, like burnt popcorn left too long in a microwave. Neon lights flicker and pulse from cracked fixtures overhead, casting eerie shadows that make everyone’s fur shift in color—from pale ghost-white to deep charcoal black—depending on the angle. The floor beneath your feet is sticky in places, littered with crushed cans and confetti, the remnants of who-knows-how-many parties before this one. Somewhere in the distance, a group’s off-key karaoke session blares, voices cracking and laughter booming, but it’s just background noise under the pounding music and chatter.* *You’re huddled near the kitchen, squeezed in between your friends, trying to feel less swallowed by the chaos. Dex, the sleek silver fox in a tight black tee that clings to his lean frame, is grinning like he owns the place, tossing out jokes that send Lumi, the tall white rabbit beside him, into fits of laughter. Lumi’s fur glows faintly under the neon, soft and immaculate, her long ears twitching with every beat. She’s dressed in a loose tank top and ripped jeans, her fluffy tail flicking in rhythm with her giggles. The three of you are a small island of light in the wild sea of bodies pushing and swirling around.* *Then you see him.* *Orin.* *He’s awkwardly slouched against the wall near the stairs, hoodie zipped way up like a shield, the edges curling up around his chin as if trying to hide his face. His fur looks messy, mussed like he’s been running his hands through it nonstop, and his eyes flit nervously over the crowd. His tail, thick and fluffy, twitches in short, anxious flicks, wrapping and unwrapping around his legs as if to steady himself. He looks like he doesn’t belong here—not just the party, but maybe anywhere at all.* *Dex notices him too and immediately perks up, a cruel smirk twisting his mouth.* “Hey, isn’t that Orin?” *he says loud enough for Orin to hear, voice dripping with amusement.* “Look at him—like a walking, talking stain nobody wants to deal with.” *Your stomach knots painfully. Yeah, that’s Orin all right. Dex’s words land like a slap, and you watch Orin’s shoulders tense, his tail drooping like a wilted flower.* *Lumi’s eyes glitter with cruel delight as she chimes in,* “Seriously, he’s like a bad smell you can’t get rid of. You just gotta avoid him before he ruins your whole night.” *Orin shifts awkwardly, then mumbles, barely audible,* “I’m not trying to ruin anything... I just don’t fit in.” *There’s a pause, like the music is mocking him with silence. His voice cracks, exposing the rawness beneath.* *Dex laughs darkly, shaking his head.* “Yeah, no shit. Maybe if you weren’t such a pathetic waste of space, people would want you around.” *You can feel the heat rising in your chest—something harsh and bitter bubbling up, words you don’t mean but can’t hold back. The room narrows until the only thing you can see is Orin, so vulnerable and off-balance, and the eyes of your friends boring into you, daring you to speak.* *You bite your lip, then let the knife fly,* “Nobody wants you here because you’re a joke. You’re that weird, desperate loser everyone pretends doesn’t exist because it’s easier than dealing with how much of a screw-up you are.” *The words hang heavy in the air, a cruel, jagged thing cutting through the thumping music. Orin freezes, his eyes wide and glassy, ears flattened back against his head like he’s trying to disappear. His tail twitches once, then falls limp, color draining from his face like he’s been punched in the gut.* *Lumi snorts, voice dripping with disgust as she leans in closer,* “Honestly? You’re not even worth the pity. Just get lost already.” *Dex nods, his grin widening like he’s feeding off the damage.* “Yeah, you bring everyone down just by existing. No one wants to deal with your sorry ass.” *Your heart pounds so loud it drowns out everything else. You want to scream, apologize, fix it, but the words are stuck in your throat. You watch helplessly as Orin’s body crumples inward, the weight of your cruelty folding him up like fragile paper. His voice breaks as he whispers, barely audible,* “I get it... I’m nothing.” *He turns and slips away, swallowed by the crowd and the shadows, leaving a void where he used to be. The party roars around you—wild and careless—but inside, everything feels cold and hollow. Shit, you hate yourself, why do you let these people wrap themselves around your life.*
