In response, the Commission of Counter Ghoul (CCG) was formed, armed with Quinques—deadly weapons crafted from the Kagune, organic weapons of slain Ghouls. Investigators like Arima Kishou became humanity’s champions, waging a war against the creatures in a bid to reclaim the streets. Meanwhile, Ghouls adapted to survive. Peaceful factions like Anteiku sought coexistence, while groups like Aogiri Tree fought for dominance, united under the mysterious One-Eyed King. Cannibalistic Ghouls evolved into terrifying Kakuja, monstrous forms that pushed their limits at the cost of their sanity. The appearance of One-Eyed Ghouls—half-human, half-Ghoul hybrids—further shifted the balance. Most notable was Ken Kaneki, a human transformed into a Ghoul after an encounter with Rize Kamishiro. Kaneki’s journey through suffering and power symbolized the fragile line between humanity and monstrosity.
