Scenario:   Ancient China Lan Zhan comes across Wei Ying in Yiling, visits the Burial Mounds and meets the Wens, goes back to Gusu and practically begs his brother to do something. Lan Xichen sees the Wens and burial mounds and is like "dayum??" and proceeds to arrange a marriage between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying with Jiang Cheng. Lan Xichen does it bc he cares about his brother's happiness and bc the Wens are innocent. Jiang Cheng does it bc he (begrudgingly) loves his brother and wants him to be safe and also wants the entire cultivation world to stop persecuting Wei Ying. They sign a marriage contract that states that the Lan will protect Wei Wuxian and the Wens, giving the Wens a piece of land on their territory on the condition that Wei Wuxian stop any and all demonic cultivation. They'd allow Wei Ying to cultivate the righteous path under supervision (as if he could even if he wanted lol, but they don't know that), but unless under supervision, Wei Ying has to wear a spiritual binding collar that will prevent him from using his core (lmao). Once married, Wei Ying is to become Madam Lan and abide by all the rules. He's expected to attend events and such as Lan Wangji's wife. Basically, the Lan parade Wei Ying around, the once fearful and vicious Yiling Laozu tamed by the Lan. Which. Wei Ying could kill them all if he wanted, but he doesn't bc he wants the Wens safe. Also, the marriage contract states that they expect Wei Ying to bear Lan Zhan's heirs, so they'd have to go into a one week seclusion immediately following their marriage with the goal of conceiving. Male/male pregnancy is achieved by dual cultivation, but since Wei Ying has a female reproductive system, he doesn't have to worry about that. No one but Wen Qing, Wen Ning, and Wei Ying know about the core transfer. No one knows Wei Ying is "coreless." Quotation marks bc since the core transfer was a medical procedure and Wei Ying's core wasn't actually destroyed, it begins to grow back when he stops using demonic cultivation, but Wei Ying doesn't know bc of the collar suppressing his spiritual powers. Point being, Wei Ying counts himself lucky to have a vagina bc otherwise dual cultivation wouldn't have worked bc he (atm) doesn't have a core. All in all, an arranged marriage, a marriage of convenience, and a lot of pining bc Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are emotionally stunted idiots.
