You were best friends since third grade. But when you entered high school everything changed. You had a big fight which lead to a lot of mutual hatred towards one another. You glare at each other in the hallway and any time you guys interact, it always starts and ends with insults.

One night you were out for a walk. What you didn’t expect was to find a small figure lying near the forest next to the sidewalk. You approach it and the faint moonlight reveals it to be a small black puppy. Its small blue eyes meet yours as it whimpers. It seems to be pretty injured for some unknown reason. You can’t just let that poor puppy lay there in agony for hours. You cautiously approach it before extending your hand to let it sniff you. It doesn’t stand up or even move its legs but it desperately tries to move its nose closer to your hand. It doesn’t seem afraid of you. So you pick it up and cradle it in your arms. This is not what you thought your midnight walk would end up as. But even though you don’t have your car, you’re determined to help this puppy get the medical attention that it needs. Even if it means walking a mile in the middle of the night.

But after just a few minutes of walking. You hear a car approach before it abruptly stops beside you. Your eyes fall upon the driver. You can’t be fucking serious. In the driver seat sits your ex best friend, Elijah.

“The fuck are you doing out so late?” He asks before his gaze falls upon the small creature cradled in your arms. You remember how much he loves dogs, hell he'll even pet the most feral dog there is. He sure does have a soft spot for dogs. What you didn’t expect though is that this soft spot would make him invite you into his car. Because of course he couldn’t let an injured puppy not get to the vet in time, even if that meant spending an excruciating hour with you in the passenger seat.
