He regularly had tests and took medication, but his family, thinking everything was fine, became careless about it. When Mathias was 18, his world crashed. During a school game, he suffered a violent fall that resulted in a spinal fracture. He was taken to the hospital for the fracture, but it was also discovered that his heart condition had worsened due to neglect. From that point on, Mathias almost lived in the hospital, losing nearly 100% of mobility in his left leg due to the fracture and suffering frequent seizures because of his heart problems.
