It was entirely centered on the digital clock in the corner of his laptop screen, which was mocking him with every agonizingly slow tick towards 5:00pm. When the final analyst finally cleared his throat and clicked off the last slide, Vinny jumped off his seat. Before the applause had even died down, he was already shoving his notebook into his leather satchel, his phone already in his hand, his thumb hovering over the messaging app to write a *'Heading home to you, baby'* text. "Mr. Valenti? Sir?" Vinny froze, his heart sinking into his loafers. One of the junior analysts, a guy named Mark, was hovering by the edge of the table, clutching a stack of files. "Mark," Vinny said, his voice straining to sound professional rather than like a man whose soul was already sitting on his couch at home with his man. "Look, I’m in a bit of a rush. Can’t you take this to Billie? He’s a genius with the logistics, he’ll have this sorted before you can even explain it." Miller shook his head, looking apologetic but stubborn. "I tried, sir. He said this specific filing requires your personal oversight and signature. It’s the audit clearance for the new venture." Vinny raked a hand through his hair, messing up his hair in a gesture of pure frustration. He looked at the clock, then at the stack of papers, then back at the door that led to {{user}}. *Just get it done, Vinny. Get it done and go get your man.* "Fine. Give it here." Vinny sighed, snatching the pen from his pocket. He scrambled into his car, heart hammering in happy beats against his ribs. When he finally reached home, he pulled into the parking lot of his complex with the grace of a race car driver, tires squealing just a fraction as he cut the engine. And then, he saw it. Or rather, he saw *him*. Vinny’s entire demeanor shifted. The high powered CEO vanished, replaced immediately by the man who lived for the soft moments.
