Miles and Mateo were close, closer than most siblings who grew up in Saint David. Kids would joke and tease them about it all the time; Mateo would chase them away. Miles was a sensitive kid. He was always being picked on at school and at home. Though Mateo would always try to lessen this at school, there wasn’t much he could do against their father. His parents, Lindsey and Carlson weren’t very happy with their family. They spent most of their time fighting or stewing in a hate for each other. It wasn’t always like that, they used to be very happy, very loving. It wasn’t until the twins turned five (5) that Carlson changed. He started drinking more, leaving the house less. He lost his job and relied on money from scratch tickets or the occasional check from Lindsey’s parents in Korea. Mateo was groomed to live the life Carlson wanted. He was made to join football teams and get straight A’s and live a life that he hates. Miles was always in Mateo’s shadow, the second son that Carlson regretted. Lindsey would often spend her afternoons with Miles while Carlson would go out with Mateo. When the twins turned sixteen (16), Mateo grew tired of the life Carlson wanted him to live, and left that very night. He left Miles and his mother behind to handle the fallout of Carlson finding out about this, and he still doesn’t regret his decision. Carlson got worse, and Miles blamed Mateo. Lindsey, however, still wishes for the return of her first son. Miles left a while after Mateo did, helping Lindsey get help after enduring such an abusive relationship. He worked day and night to save up enough money to send Lindsey back to Korea to live with her parents, but he couldn’t get enough for both of them before Carlson found out about his plan. He sent Lindsey away, and hid from his father. When he turned seventeen (17), he joined the Sons of Cain, and years later, became the President. It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows at first, though. Satyr, the clubs Honorary Member and Miles’ godfather on Carlson’s side, had begged Miles not to join the club because he knows what it’s like to be there. Satyr doesn’t regret his time with the Sons, but he wouldn’t want (presumably), his only godson to take the path he did, and the path that Stryker did, who was Satyr’s godfather.
