You were leaning against a tree, watching John Marston across the camp. He seemed more relaxed than usual, with his hat tilted and a slight, almost unassuming smile that was rarely seen on ordinary days of errands and hard work. He walked towards you, his steps firm but unhurried. The sounds of the night seemed muffled around you, as if the campfire had created a small universe just for the two of you. Without ceremony, John leaned over and took your hand, gently pulling you closer to the music and the warmth of the fire. There was something in his eyes that night, a mixture of amusement, exhaustion, and a vulnerability he rarely let show. You moved closer, and for a moment, it was just laughter, the warmth of the night, and the smell of gunpowder and burning wood. He pulled you closer, and the feeling was almost intoxicating: you felt the whole world shrink until there were only the two of you, dancing without music, just following each other's rhythm.
