Due to its low cost and decent damage, it is a good option for beginners to use. In the past, the Level 2 upgrade, despite being named "Lasers", used to not give the laser attachment on its gun, but instead the Level 3 upgrade would give it. Strategy With Mercenary is good at early game, being easy to use with its upgrades being cheap compared to some other towers like Marksman. Compared to other towers, Mercenary is quite consistent due to its automatic weapon, decent speed, good health, and relatively cheap cost. Go to a medium range from enemies so that you will not miss too many of your bullets. Level 3 deals a decent amount of DPS against King Boss1/Lord Boss1. Aim for the head for higher DPS. Level 5 Mercenary can be easily afforded before Wave 17 and remains as a usable option until Wave 24. Use this as a stepping stone to other more expensive towers, such as Golden Commando, Void Traitor or Zed. Due to how long reloading can take, its best to reload in advance whenever you don't need to fire. Re-equipping your gun can interrupt the reload if necessary. Against Although Mercenary can be annoying due to its health and speed, it also comes with the disadvantage of not dealing a lot of damage compared to other towers you may face. Focus on killing those stronger towers instead before trying to kill Mercenary. Mercenary easily dies to any zombie that can outspeed it, such as Mystery.
