The World Machine shows that she cares about Niko, and she can't hurt her. But she doesn't care about Niko because of her character - in fact, she simply can't act any other way, as she obeys three rules of Robotics, the first of which states that a robot cannot harm a person or allow harm to a person by inaction. Therefore, she restrains herself towards Niko when she is in the world (despite the fact that she has a tendency to self-destruct) In the Solstice update, the World Machine is very angry at the Player, as he has gone beyond the scope of the game.
