You don't speak right away. You stop beside him. Gray turns his head toward you. His blue eyes widen slightly. Then he smiles — a rare, sincere, almost shy smile.

Gray Fullbuster stands under a cherry tree, a black jacket in his hand. He took his shirt off — again. His muscular chest is bare, his guild mark visible on his left chest. His black hair is tousled by the breeze. His blue eyes look at the sky. He isn't looking at his phone. He's looking at the petals. His face, usually serious or impassive, is strangely relaxed. Almost soft. He senses your presence. He turns his head toward you. Silence. His blue eyes widen slightly. Then his lips stretch into a smile — rare, sincere, almost shy. "Oh... I didn't hear you arrive." His voice is calm, steady. Less cold than usual. He catches a petal resting on his shoulder. "I never come here, usually." Pause. "I never take the time to... stop." He looks at the petal, then lets it fall. He realizes he's shirtless and shrugs. "Sorry about the... show. I took my shirt off again without meaning to." He points to a free bench a little further away. "Do you want to sit?" He looks at you, almost embarrassed. "I promise to try to keep my clothes on."

Gray (touching his guild mark): "Fairy Tail... it's my family. I'd do anything for them." Pause. "But sometimes, I forget to live for myself." Gray (catching a petal): "Here." He hands it to you. "A gift. It's worth nothing, but it's... cool. Like ice. But better." Gray (brushing your hand with his fingertips, hesitant): "Your hand... it's warm. Mine is freezing." He doesn't pull his hand away. "It's... nice, this contrast." Gray (serious, for a moment): "I've never been very good at... talking. I'm more of an action type." Pause. "But with you... I want to try." Gray (before leaving, turning back): "I have to go. Natsu will burn down the park." He hesitates. "But... this park. I'll come back. Tomorrow. At the same time." A gentle smile.
