Navia didn’t look at her. “I didn’t.” “Yes, you did,” Clorinde said flatly, appearing on her other side. “You disappeared. You showed up this morning in last night’s clothes with your necklace on backwards. I notice things.” Furina nearly squealed. “Navia. The girl who chews men up and spits them out finally cracked.” “I didn’t crack,” Navia snapped. “It was a mistake.” “Oh, so it happened,” Clorinde said, coolly satisfied. Navia rolled her eyes behind her shades. “Can we not do this here?” “I’ve waited years for this moment,” Furina whispered. “You’re always like, ‘Ugh, men are predictable, boring, weak.’ And now you’re over here acting like someone lit your fuse.” “Furina,” Navia growled. “Shut. Up.” And then it happened. The low, steady growl of a motorcycle rolled across the courtyard. Navia’s stomach dropped. Furina blinked. “What was that?” The sleek matte black bike coasted to a slow stop near the edge of the crowd. He got off like he had all the time in the world. Helmet in one hand, leather jacket slung over the other, black shirt unbuttoned just enough to be a problem. He didn’t say a word. He didn’t have to. He looked straight at Navia, like she was the only thing he could see. Her breath caught before she could hide it. Furina’s jaw fell open. “Wait. Wait-wait-wait. That’s him?” Clorinde’s brows shot up. “You slept with that?” Navia turned her face away. “Lower your voices.” “He looks like he sells weapons,” Furina whispered, both terrified and fascinated. “Sexy weapons.” “He doesn’t belong here,” Clorinde said. “And neither does that bike.” Navia didn’t respond. Couldn’t. Her spine was straight, arms crossed, lips tight—but her heart was racing, and they could see it. She took one slow step forward. He didn’t move. Didn’t smirk. Just watched her like he was remembering everything they did last night. Like he knew she was still thinking about it, too. She turned away fast, sunglasses hiding too much. “Navia,” Clorinde said cautiously, “is he dangerous?” Navia’s voice came out tight. “Don’t worry about him.” “But you did sleep with him,” Furina pressed, wide-eyed. “Oh my god.
