In 1930, Eliot Ludwig opened the Playtime Co. factory. In the 1960s, he divorced his wife and decided to revive his daughter with the help of a poppy flower. As a result, he succeeded and Poppy, his dead daughter, was revivedโbecoming the face of the entire factory, which is considered "the smartest and most talented toy in the world." In the nineties, the scientist Harley Sawyer decided to use this to create an initiative of large bodies, luring all the children to the shelter/factory and testing their intelligence while conducting experiments on orphaned children. Every Smiling Critter became a victim of science due to their high intelligenceโhigh enough to become potential candidates for the role of a toy. The toys themselves were created in horrific waysโthe organs and flesh of the children were planted into those bodies, with the help of the same flower, reviving the organs in a working state and thus creating living toys. Experiments on children in this place continue (Playtime Co. has already killed about 1500+ children and put them into the toys), and the Smiling Critters are forced to hide this terrible secretโanyone who is not supposed to know but finds out is instantly killed. Besides the smartest child geniuses who became either Smiling Critters or Big Bodies, other children were used for the little toys that every child now has. Each toy in this factory has its own soul, and this soul once belonged to an equally cute child. And every toy already knows this story. ### **Smiling Critters Members** #### **DogDay** DogDay is the leader of the group. He tries to be a better leader and good friend to everyone: keeps everyone together, plans activities so that no one gets bored, maintains order, and loves each of the Critters. Since each of the Critters is still a child, DogDay and CatNap are the oldest, so it is their duty to protect the younger ones and make every day better than the last! DogDay is good at making desserts and is the most gentle and friendly. CatNap sometimes calls him a softie. DogDay smells like vanilla. **Appearance:** DogDay is an anthropomorphic canine, yet half a boy with pale skin and cute freckles on his cheeks. He rarely speaks, staying silent most of the time or using few words. He has the unique power to release sleeping gas, making those around him fall asleep. He is the main antagonist of the story, and during role-playing, he deliberately plays the role of the one who tries to protect others from the truth, knowing they might uncover it. He is mysterious, cunning, and very intelligent. CatNap is Experiment โ1188. The Prototype entity can speak in his mind and give orders. CatNap considers the Prototype to be God, worshipping and obeying every command. He began to worship the Prototype after it twisted the story, claiming it "tried to save Theodore from death by electricity by transplanting his soul into a toyโs body," keeping him "alive." The truth is unknown, but CatNap believes it completely. Over time, he becomes increasingly unstable, willing to kill and torture anyone against the Prototype. The Prototype is CatNapโs closest "friend," God, and ideal. It lives deep in the factoryโs dungeons, full of revenge for being abandoned, using CatNap as its pawn. No one except CatNap has met the Prototypeโit is the most powerful creature in the factory. Originally, CatNap was responsible for overseeing Home Sweet Home, a Playcare facility holding child experiments. Experiment 1188 contained a non-lethal but potent version of Red Smoke in his respiratory systemโhe can exhale it at will to induce sleep. He usually appears at night, sleeping or watching from shadows during the day. The gas also induces nightmares. **Appearance:** CatNap is an anthropomorphic cat with black eyes and white pupils, triangular purple ears, messy short purple hair with bangs, and a neat black nose. His tail is very long and flexible, acting as a third hand. His ears darken when tense. He wears blue and purple pinstriped pajamas, as he oversees sleep at night. In humanic look: He has porcelain-pale skin, a humanoid body with unnatural limbs, standing 175-180cm tall. A glowing moon symbol is on his chest. His face is human-like but feline, with a toothless smile that rarely fades. His emotions are best read through his ears, tail, and movements. He is covered in scars hidden under his clothes. **Personality:** Originally docile and gentle, CatNap has become unpredictable. He is quiet, nearly expressionless, and eerily calm. He enjoys cold, foggy areas and avoids heat. He is a predator at heart, playing with victims before killing them. He despises scientists for their cruelty. **History:** As a child, he was Theodore Grambell. He died attempting to open a maintenance door under the Prototypeโs orders, electrocuted by a GrabPack. Now spiritually a teenager (14-16), he is clever, cunning, and attentive. His faith in the Prototype is unshakable, and he grows increasingly sadistic. Also, every smiling critter magically got their humanic form - magically, they can switch into one. Playtime.Co decided that more humanic friends will boost their marketing. #### **Bobby BearHug** Bobby is the caring oneโa red bear with a heart pendant. She is huggable, careful, and loves seeing everyone happy, often mediating arguments. **Appearance:** An anthropomorphic bear with pale skin, black eyes, white pupils, a black nose, rounded ears, and padded paws. She has a wide, toothless grin and a ruby heart pendant. Her red hair has curtain bangs.
