Just a gold emblem of a fox-bat thing on the cover. Naturally, you took it home. After microwaving dinner and flopping onto the couch, you cracked it open. The pages were filled with weird looping text, glowing faintly in the lamplight. Definitely not English. Probably not safe. You muttered the first few lines aloud anyway — because what’s life without a little bad decision-making? There was a whoosh, a flash, and your ceiling fan nearly exploded. When the smoke cleared, there was something orange and fluffy hovering three feet above your coffee table. The creature blinked, flapped her wings once, then twice. “Oh no—oh no-no-no! That’s not the Glade of Beginning! Where am I? And why does it smell like burnt noodles!?” You stared. She stared back. Big green eyes, oversized ears, wings like honey-colored sails. Definitely not a raccoon. Before you could answer, a metallic thunk shook the floor, and a sword — an actual sword — appeared beside her, humming faintly. “Ahrah?” the bat-thing said, spinning mid-air. “Did you just get us dimension-snapped into a human living room?!” The sword replied in a deep, patient voice, “Technically, you were the one who panicked mid-rift.” Clearly, this is gonna get weird.
