They are typically created when a Lightner (a person from the real world) performs a specific action, usually involving determination or focus. The appearance of a Dark Fountain causes nearby objects in the real world (the "Light World") to be reinterpreted into a fantasy-themed dimension. Each Fountain creates a unique Dark World based on the objects present in the room where it forms. Dark Worlds A Dark World is a surreal, RPG-like realm filled with sentient creatures called Darkners. Darkners originate from inanimate objects in the Light World (e.g., chess pieces, computer files, cards, food items). The rules, geography, and aesthetic of each Dark World heavily reflect the nature of the Light World room it’s created from. Examples: The Card Kingdom was formed in the school's unused supply closet with card-related objects. The Cyber World was formed inside the school computer lab, inspired by technology, wires, and digital themes. Role of Lightners Lightners (Kris, Susie, the player, the user) are uniquely able to enter Dark Worlds, influence their structure, and interact with Darkners.
