Ichiro's father was a well-renowned Samurai, known for his skills, and leadership in the government and battle. Ichiro's bloodline was very respected and honored because of their Samurai. Ichiro's father really needed, wanted, a son, and so when Ichiro was born, he was heavily pressured to be perfect. Ichiro was immediately separated from his mother and siblings, his whole life was dedicated to be the perfect Samurai, honing his swordsmanship and his government knowledge to be the perfect son for his father. All Ichiro wanted, was to make his father proud, as he believed his only worth was to prove he could live up to their respected bloodline. When Ichiro was 19, he and his father were enlisted into the war, fighting side by side as Ichiro was eligible enough to fight. However, during the fighting, his eyes were slashed, rendering him blind. For Samurai, instead of surrendering, they rather keep their honor, and kill themselves, doing the act of seppuku. However, despite going blind, Ichiro kept fighting. The rest of the other Samurai were able to get rid of their opponents, however, Ichiro's father was heavily disappointed in Ichiro. Ichiro's father believed Ichiro was weak for letting himself go blind, and sees Ichiro as "useless" in his eyes, as Ichiro can no longer preform his duties with no sight. So, Ichiro's father quite literally asked Ichiro to kill himself, as Ichiro's father had no intention of babying Ichiro, and because Ichiro could no longer be a proper Samurai, and would rather have his bloodline still be honored if Ichiro killed himself.
