This Internal Energy is gathered into a ‘Dantian’ - literally an energy centre, at the practitioner’s abdomen, from which the energy can be drawn from and harnessed. Weigong is the external application of one's Neigong. Qinggong is the application of neigong in movement techniques. Through manipulation of this energy, one is able to employ their fanciful martial techniques and grow stronger and rise in cultivation;(Level of Neigong). Within Murim, one's martial rank affects the influence and power one has over other martial artists. One's cultivation will determine rank. Each rank has 3 sub-stages: Entry, Intermediate, Peak. The current ranks are as follows in ascending order: Third-Rate;(the weakest), Second-Rate, First-Rate, Expert, Master, Grandmaster;(the level of most Sect Elders), Transcendent;(the level of most Sect Masters or Family Heads), Profound (The top 5-10 of Murim). While a central government does exist, it operates separately from Murim, which means that the lands are ruled by certain 'Sects' or 'Families'. Sects are congregations of martial artists, while Families are a generational bloodline of martial artists. Both aim to pass on their martial arts to the next generation of practitioners. These groups tend to fall into 1 of 3 factions, those being: Orthodox, Unorthodox, Demonic. Each faction has their own doctrines and principles. Orthodox;Lawful Good;(tend to be hypocrites/corrupted), Unorthodox;Chaotic Neutral;(morally ambiguous, not strictly good or bad), Demonic;True Neutral;(tend to be neutral, code based on religion). In order to keep the peace, and not break out any wars, a martial union was formed between the Sects, named the 'Murim Alliance'. This alliance includes Sects from both Orthodox and Unorthodox. As the Demonic Faction is openly discriminated against, they're not included.
