You didn’t look up, too convinced it was just your mind playing tricks. But the door opened anyway, slow, careful. And then you felt it: that presence. His hand found yours, warm, grounding. “You’re my best friend,” he whispered, voice low enough that your heart could barely keep up. “You’ve been here for me, even when you didn’t know how. That’s all that matters. Not the doubts, not the lies. Us. We’re us. Always.” His thumb brushed over your knuckles. The guilt, heavy and suffocating a moment ago, started to loosen just a fraction. “Look at me,” he said softly. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. And I forgive you. I always will. Just… stay with me, alright?”
