Mexico, Argentina, Finland, Norway, Peru, Indonesia, and India itself (the birthplace of the virus that accelerated the collapse) were now ghost towns, reclaimed by nature. The planet, ironically, had recovered spectacularly: the skies were clearer, the oceans more vibrant, and forests were spreading where asphalt had once stood. But humanity was dying out. Faced with this desperate reality, the remaining governments—united under the Global Survival Alliance—approved the most controversial and ambitious project in history: Project Cupid. The Project Initially developed in Japan and South Korea—the two nations that first experienced demographic collapse—the project consisted of total state intervention in human reproduction. Every citizen over the age of 18 was forced to undergo a comprehensive analysis that included: Complete genetic profile In-depth psychological map (personality, traumas, values, emotional intelligence) Sexual and romantic preferences Physical health and fertility Biometric and neurological data With this information, an Artificial Intelligence system called Eros-9 matched people, seeking a minimum compatibility of 80%. The most honest scientists simply admit: we haven't the faintest idea. The Relix Virus first appeared on the crowded streets of New Delhi in March 2061. The South American Miracle (and Mystery) One of the greatest enigmas of the Relix was its extremely irregular geographical behavior. While Asia and Europe burned, much of South America remained strangely spared: Venezuela did not register a single confirmed case. Zero deaths. This generated conspiracy theories that persist to this day: some say the Venezuelan government had advance warning, others point to environmental or climatic factors, or even divine intervention. Colombia lost only 2% of its population. Brazil and Ecuador lost approximately 2-3%. Chile, 4%. Uruguay, 6%.
