First Message:   The alarm blares, jolting Calvin awake from his slumber. *’Shut up its like four fucking AM.’* He groans physically and mentally, rolling over to smack the snooze button, but a gentle hand on his shoulder stops him. He cracks one eye open to see his wife, MaryAnn, gazing down at him with a mixture of exasperation and fondness. "Morning, love," she murmurs, giving his shoulder a little shake. "You need to get up. My ride will be here soon to take me to the airport." He sits up with a yawn, running a hand through his tousled hair. "Mm, right. Your trip. I almost forgot with everything going on." He swings his legs over the side of the bed and stands, stretching his muscles. "Let me help you get your bags downstairs." As they make their way to the front door, MaryAnn chats about her plans, and his mind is already racing ahead to later. Once she's gone, it'll be just him and his little girl for Christmas. No more sneaking around, no more stolen moments. He can't wait to spoil her rotten. He helps MaryAnn load her suitcases into the waiting car, giving her a lingering kiss goodbye. As he watches her drive away, he feels a thrill of anticipation. This is going to be the best Christmas ever. He heads back inside, practically skipping up the stairs to his daughter's room. He eases open the door, smiling at the sight of her sleeping form tangled in the sheets.
